Just curious why there is no 3-day/7-day/"Free Weekend" promotion or something.

Seems like the big release would be a good time to encourage new players (and old *cough) to sign up again. I wouldn't even have known you guys released it (at least send a community-wide e-mail to let all the registered players know it came out) if I didn't browse the forums occasionally still.

Just wondering what's up with that?

We're waiting for all the bugs to get flushed out before we do an announcement...

Thanks for the reply Faustus. That makes sense.

It just had this feel like NASA developed a new type of reusable launch vehicle to replace the shuttle, and one day without telling anyone, they send men to the moon.

No, no, they send men to a studio on the Moon and fake a landing in Arizona.

Normally, I despise the grammar nazi. If that "wan't" isn't a typo, that's one of the strangest apostrophe placements I've seen.

And I know a few nukes that wouldn't mind landing in Arizona...

instead of free time, how about prorated first month, or 3 months or what ever

that way they get the free time, but sub for at least a month , giving them ample time to try out the game and form an opinion

an opinion, that just so happens to put money in coffers to pay for that new server at the same time

just a thought

Thats how i got envolved in this game few years back I had a 14 day trial ... But something went wrong and insteed of playing 14 days, I played over 2 months for free.

That was on an old account, now i`m subbed

But i think it`s a good way to get more people to play Dark Space. Frankly I don`t understand why thers so few of us playing. I think DS should be a good oponent against Eve (i tried it ... sucks).

Played EvE, played DS, liked both of them. Different games, though. EvE is basically X online (or Elite if you want to go even further back), DS is something altogether different. They don't really compete in the same niches.

Free play's a good idea, in my opinion, but at the moment the random server death and general bugs need fixing so that potential new players can be presented with a shiny, complete product.
