Don't forget to run the command line app as an admin...

It does not help - but one thing is sure, it's vista problem. On the same computers but on win xp sp3 everything works fine. Sorry Faustus your idea does not work. I will be searching through the net for possible solutions but I thinks its rather DS adjustement problem, and it would be a total crap...

@Faust, yeah. Intel Core2 Quad 64bit proc @2.4ghz running Vista Home 64bit & a GeForce 8800GT & 4gb DDR2 RAM. The only issues that I have are when EVERYONE in the area is lagging to crap and/or cloak bug.

Based on what was said here about Multi core CPU's, i began a little test myself.
While Ingame, Hit Ctrl Alt Del to bring up the task manager
Go across to the Processes tab, Right Click on the Client.Exe process and then click on the Set Affinity option.
Remove the tick from CPU's 1,2 and 3 while leaving CPU 0 ticked.
Click OK and then close the task manager, Darkspace should now be running on only one core.
Alt tab back into Game and see how it works.
Heres a pic of what im on about...
This seemed to work rather well for me, as when i tried adding another core back in i began to receive the dreaded lag again.

Eh, don't worry about it. You're not the only one today, it seems.

If you cannot be bothered to keep doing this every time, download Prio and it'll remember the settings.

I have Vista x32, but with dual core. Firewall is on, havent change anything at the ports or something like that and it works fine for me. Only time Im lagging is when I forget the torrents open ^^.

Awesome. Trying to adjust the affinity of Cortex Command before it does clock tests and crashes is most difficult to do each time it boots up...

The thing with CPU affinity was not resolved before on my laptop (i dunno why maybe type of dual core). Patch repaired everything. Thanks.
