I think it's been long enough that we've had this one that we could likley come up with a few minor (Or major) tweaks to streamline it.

What are your takes on this?

I had mentioned before a proposal to move the jump countdown from the center of the screen to a corner or have a way to disable its view.

I'd also like to see a target management interface such as disabling the diamonds of missiles and/or fighters, enable an always-on tag with the target's name over both the arrow if they're off screen and/or the ships while they're on screen (even if you didn't mouseover or select them).

I think a very good option for us is to go down the adaptable route, where maybe you can add your own code for the user interface, or choose from a few base installs, everything can be moved, deleted, edited, whatever you want, your totally in control.

Maybe an SDK type thing?

Yeah, I've always hoped for a DS:SDK, but I don't think thats something Faustus wants to do.

Ah well.

slinki stop playing WoW

But i agree it might be time again that the HUD/User Interface gets some renewed attention.

e.g. this a screenshot how the interface looked from 1.477 to 1.480: Image Link.

Can't find my screen shots of before 1.477. so can't show you how the really old version looked.

I really liked the ooold UI, pre 1.4 I believe. Was basicaly a circle with all the vital info, which we could take now and streamline

i do agree that a new HUD would be a very nice thing indeed, but i ear that even if this idea is used it may be put on the back burner because there are many more things that the DS dev team has to work on atm.

but, maybe something as a simple color changing utility for the HUD might be an easy thing to achieve, just my idea.
