Can anyone figure this out???
I have done everything i can think off.
-Updated all drivers
-Redownloaded 3 times
-Tried every Resolution and Refresh rate. And windowed.
-I even removed every font from windows XP I could
(thinking the game might be getting the wrong font some how,
i`m getting desperate)

The game worked fine a couple years ago.
Been tring for about a year, off and on, to figure out the problem, hoping an update would fix it.
The rest of the game works fine. I Just have a hard time reading stuff..

System

Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600)
Pentium 4 - 1.70GHz
DirectX 9.0c (4.09 .0000.0904)
NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440 with AGP8X - 64.0 MB - Duel monitor

Monitor is at 1024 x768 (32 bit) (100Hz)

in darkspace setup:

video mode tab > display mode > scroll to top and chose 'windowed'

try this

when u run the game however u may go 'omg look at how small this window is'. simply ctrl-click a corner and drag to your hearts content. (you will not get a curser UI for this action however)

EDIT: if the above does not work, i dunno really. u said u updated your drivers =

You are running almost the same system as me, a little less power in the processor and video card but more or less the same.
Try downloading updates for your video card...(from Nvidia site) after I reformatted my PC I had the same problem with 90% of games having garbled text but after I found up to date video card drivers everything was fine.

This is caused by turning on filtering...

Turn it off or switch it to the "Let the application Choose" mode...

I've had this problem too in games when I had just reformatted my system and had yet to update my drivers.

And as Meko suggested yes, downloading the latest usually fixes it.

If not, Faustus wins again, and we must set up the chessboard anew.

Which filtering are you talking about , cause if it is the vidio card stuff,
I have tried every setting I can change and every combination of the vid card settings.

I have the latest drivers (93.71), but you gave me an idea, i will try down grading the driver , because the game worked with a older driver.
And this is the only game I am having a problem with.

Dacurly, I do believe the latest Forceware drivers are at 181.22 ...

93.* is WAY old.

http://www.filehippo.com/download_nvidia_forceware_xp/

Even though the main website only supplies 93. for your series, I'd give the absolute latest a whirl, as most of the time they'll have tiny improvements over the ones on the website (which they stop updating for old cards).

Thnx guys for giving my brain a bump.
I have a MSI Nvidia card, so I went to MSI sight instead of Nvidia and got the newest driver for my Card (I think it was from 2006) and now everything is GOOOOD.

It`s working fine now so I am going to stay with the driver I got from MSI.

I had this problem a few days ago..for the ATI cards, it was the filtering in the Catalyst control center....So Richard is right again...
