With the introduction of grouping coming back, I was wondering what folks might think about the option of being able to "target my target's target". No, I am not trying to be funny.

Example. Last night, myself and two other players were in mv, attacking platforms. because they were in a cluster, we obviously wanted to target the same one, to overload the PD. How do u call out the target?

I've played many many space and flight games, and this has always been a valuable option when doing things like convoy duty, etc. It would work well here as well.

Another nice option would be "target nearest attacker of target". Same idea, only in reverse. Makes it easier to defend a station, etc.

Anyways, just some ideas to stimulate the forums.

How's about making some one a group leader or something similar and putting back in the "Attack" order?

This would work better i think, also easyer to manage then storing everyones targets in game.

that won't be the same for two reasons.

1. u have to spam everyone in order to give the order to the specific person u want to.

2. it requires the one player to send the order as opposed to I can just target him and hit a button and presto. i have his target. or i have his attacker.

take a page from EvE. when the fleet leader designates a target, a huge bullseye goes onto the target. i suggest the same thing, it could work, and it is less spam.

You don't even really need an order for it.

All you have to do is designate a flight/group leader, maybe the person in a dread leading some cruisers, for example. That way you have some form of a command structure to use.

The dread uses his weapons as a form of target identification, and the others queue off of him. He might , for instance, tell two of the group to attack the target he is attacking at that moment, and once they are locked onto it, he could switch targets and have the rest of the group attack the new target. That way, you don't even need to add commands into the software (or reinstate them, but thats a whole different animal all the same).
The only downside is that it could lead to carpal tunnel rates jumping among those chosen as group leaders.

Oh well, sacrifices must be made.

Agreed on this, i was assuming that group leaders sending an order would send the order to the entire group at once.

we already have this, its called "Fleets" the only flaw is that not enough people are willing to take orders, or cooperate when needed

Interesting.

=Wolf= is a fleet. I was there with another Wolf. We have no issues in communicating "kill so-and so's dread", or, "bomb such and such planet".

How do u concentrate 3 peoples firepower on 1 platform amid 20 platforms? I didn't realize that being in a fleet could remedy that.

And we use a comm system. What do I say, kill the 19th, not the 1-18, or 20th? Maybe read before u respond.
