I am just wondering why the pres is distributed differently? EX: when you go to combat and destroy a ship you might get say 10 pres but only 1 combat pres. At a rate like this it would take me 2 months to get gold combat bagde from silver. Is this a bug or is it how it was meant to be?

The more you progress, the bigger the ships you get, the more damage they do, and the easier it is to get the badges (hence why they require them).

It's very difficult to acurately make all of the available points reward exactly the same amount. For example, repairing a dreadnaught doesn't neccesairly require the same amount of skill when compared to killing one. When it comes down making code changes to balance these points, you have to take into consideration hull levels, hp values, and the like, and it just becomes a mamoth task.

Instead, it's far easier to asign a value to each point, for example, one ships damaged point has a value of three prestige, and one repairs point has a value of 2.5 prestige.

A smaller classed vessle is never going to earn as much as the one above it in a certain task - hence why the bigger hulls are able to gain points in these tasks much faster than the smaller hull. However, these smaller ships have no need for the larger badges. So by the time you have the skill to actually fly the bigger ships, and the rank required, you'll find yourself in possesion of the badges required.

You also lose considerably more prestige for dieing in bigger ships.
