A small fleet of pirates equipped with EMP arms has managed to ambush and disable a stray UGTO ST-101 Carrier Dreadnought in Luyten 726-8 A. After the crew elected to defect to the band of pirates, the ship's carrier bays and internal factories were stripped and refitted with more familiar cannons and beam weapons.
Not knowing how to deal with the ship's long shape, which previously hadn't been a problem on pirate ships, pirate engineers were force to have a majority of the weapons mounted on lateral firing arcs. With understandable insight, the pirate engineers also placed most of the armor on the starboard and port arcs. It was named 'Humpback' for the slight curve along its medial axis. So far only few such pirated dreadnoughts exists; there is no standard pirate dreadnought hull, due to the nature of the pirate's acquisition of ships and materials.

finally got a few correctly colored textures! ^^ I'm afraid it might be impossible to fit it in either UGTO or Pirate fleets because it has too many similarities to both, and at the same time isn't quite either of them. Solidly places this in the realm of 'fan art.'
-.-

i like the idea of a pirate dread and i like this one even more, as it is a stolen prototype ship, would be a nice addition maybe to the pirate fleet if only pirates were made a playable faction so you dont have 2 vs 1 wars

Mmm, which parts do you mean? If you mean the gray parts I'd agree immediately, but if you mean the white parts I'd be a little sad.. D:
I decided from now on I'll upload the models along with the pictures, just in case anyone wants to look at them or if they think they could do better with them.
They'll be in .blend for now, but if anyone needs them converted..~
I don't know if there's a procedure or anything, but am I allowed to upload the textures I used for this too?

Wouldn't be entirely realistic, I recall the reason being. Pirates don't have the resources to produce such massive warships.

if they don't have the resources, why do they have a Station?

Because building an orbital facility that requires no engines and therefore little structural integrity should be easier than building a warship, presumably. We have stations now, but no space warships, after all, so it's easier to build a static installation.
Unfortunately, in DS stations are weirdly capable of moving around and jumping, which turns them more into mobile installations than actual stations. Yes, I know, it's weird.

Sigh. We don't really have the technology for space warships, either. We can just about send a can to the moon for a few days and get most of said can to come back.

well we "can" strap a howitzer to the spaceshuttle with sealed air in the breech... It would just be unorthodox to stablilize the ship and well... get the shell to get past the atmosphere before disentigrating.

Do you have a point, or are you just nitpicking for the sake of it?
