On the other hand you have to hand it to Faustus. He's not running a profit machine here.

I like the ideas but I feel the pace of the game needs to be increased before people will stay playing as well.
Paying money to sit in MV and wait for something to happen isn't much fun.

Ideally the entire combat system would scale with the playerbase, an idea that is a bit far from reality though.

You guys need to chill out. I was just offering food for thought and trying to provoke further comments - and it mostly worked. I wasn't intending to shoot ANYTHING down, and personally I rather like the idea. Heard of devil's advocate? You should look into it; it doesn't mean the person is the devil himself.

I like th idea of a tierd payment system but can it be ofr something other than rank?? Im just saying but, i like the idea of rank showing how good of a player you are; in order to do that just limit the class ship you can get by using a credit system for buying ships, not moding (i dont want to talk about that) im talking just about buying ships classes. Have rank to show just how good or not so good of a okayer you are and still have diffrent ranks have diffrent. this is a whole 'nother idea and icant give the full detils yet cause ive gtg but, i think you can catch my drift.

after reading all that I have in this post, it would increase the player base, but what it comes down to is what Faustas wants...
But more of a player base equates to more money, more money means, you guessed it more money, and that equates to an economic boom.
It is good that Faustas likes the idea, if it was up to a vote I would say 'Aye'

http://www.evony.com is making insane money off the pay for advancement thing.
battlefield heroes is too.
i posted my thoughts in my post "Darkspace Balance".
i think the game needs to be balanced, then advertised heavily with considerable free play to revive some action.
But I may be off on this. I just want to help, not cause controversy or speak out of place. [ This Message was edited by: dj42 {C?} on 2009-09-29 02:24 ]

I agree with the cap at 1RA, as that not only cuts off the dreads- it cuts off the assault cruisers (if my memory isn't fuzzing). So, even if dreads become unfavorable again, the top-dog cruisers will be the subscription incentive.
Of course, the other problem we face is exposure. This last free trial was a bit of an eye-opener, as it's the first one I can think that didn't draw a significant number of freebie people. Drafell was always keen to keep the game promoted on places like mmorpg.com, but we'll probably need more than that to really draw people in. Another run as a "featured download" on Fileplanet's probably way out of our league by now, so... any ideas?

For the record, even if there were many cruisers flying about, I'd still sub for my Krill and my rank.
As long as the bugs were worked out. The "can see me cloaked 20 secs after I show zero sig" crap would have to be fixxed.
But yeah, I would sub anyways, as I am sure alot of others would.
The player base is the biggest issue. Too many times logging in to see 1 person on your side. F2P would help that a long way.
And, as old as the game is getting, honestly, F2P is about the only thing that makes sense. If Warrock can survive as a F2P game, I don't see why DS couldn't in fact thrive again.
That's my opinion. Get your own.

I like this idea a lot and am behind it 100%. A cap at 1ra or 2ra seems good, allows access to most of the cruisers without giving access to the assault cruisers. Would probably need to buff dreads and stations, make it so they don't get owned by groups of 10 cruisers or so.
But yah, awesome idea...

Not that strong. They already are by far the best ships to use in the game.
