hmm, might be off topic, but just had a 1 on 1 battle with a player in HC with my stock stinger. Held my own fairly well. The 2 heavy psi cannons were knocking off 5% hp at a time.
havent tried against BC yet.
but on scarab, I still believe we should beef em up.
1.)They were so dangerous in 1.483 b/c they could be STACKED. If that can be prevented, it would balance their use.
2.) Remove the Friend or Foe recognition, so ANY ship passing over em will be dmg, including the ship that lays it.

Siphon is another word for "drain."
Anyways, about the mines; Shig had a pretty good idea about "drasticaly diminishing" returns with respect to proximity of the explosion for mines.(the closer you are, the more damage you get) Basically the mines would hurt you ALOT if you are close, but only scratch if you were beyond a small radius, say 3gu diameter.(guesstimate)

yes i know what Siphon means. Seems it should really Siphon then.
I set up with a Scarab at a jumpgate. I dropped 40 mines in such a way as they would be hit by whatever came thru. I watched in awe as an ICC transport came thru, nailed em, only set maybe half off, and kept right on trucking. It did do some damage, but if only half the mines went off, 20 mines should be enough to kill a transport I would think.
If they are set to do double torp damage (roughly), then that's 40 torps. (not sure if that would be AM torps, as it is an AM mine). I could see 40 torps hitting a transport and killing it.
So, is it lag or desynch? Like I said only half went off. I forgot about manually detting the rest in time, but the tranny hadn't taken nearly enough damage to make me think the other 20 going off would have killed it.
Anyways, I'm going to do a little more testing with it.
