I to have used paypal, I didn't find a problem with it nor have I had any issues. The only thing is it is not easy to find and cancel with them and you have to be aware that they will withdraw money out the next month unless you cancel....
The only issues was the length of time it took paypal to get the mony from my bank to Darkspace, took a couple of weeks....
All and all I would say there are way worse ways... you just have to weigh it and decide if you want to sub to DS and if you do not have a credit card then that is the option that you have.

maybe its because i dont have money on my paypal account and getting the money off my bank account would take too much time

i would suggest to support also www.moneybookers.com (European version of PayPal) and www.kagi.com (Asia/Russia variant)
also from my personal opinion the security of MB is bit higher than PP while Kagi is on par ...
ease of integration and other stuff is similar level
in the end it's all if there is demand to reach new customers

All depends on what kind of bank you got. American banks tend to be slow when you wire money over (unless you pay for a speedy service), wich is basicly what you do when you link a banking account to paypal.
Paypal knows almost every transaction time and garuentee rate to get the money.
Ofcourse linking a CC garuentees fast payment since the CC company stands debit for what you pay, and they collect the cash from you later with interest..
Most West Europian banks have some form of fast debit payment e.g. "Carte Bleue" France, "Chip and Pin" UK,Belgium,Netherland,Ireland..
e.g. for my bank it usually takes ~1 minutes between order an executed.
So ya.. back to your problem, was getting of track for a moment..
you Will have to have one of the folowing in order for paypal to accept the DS subscribtion.- Hve a banking account linked to Paypal..
- Hve a CC linked to paypal..
- you already have a cash trancfered to your paypal account..

Unfortunately PayPal still won't allow me to subscribe without a CC. I have a bank account linked to PayPal, but PayPal doesn't allow me to pay with it.
Obtaining a CC isn't possible for me, and the running costs would be to high for the few occasions I could use the card.
I hope the Admins are working on this... I'd really like to subscribe again.

Normally when you link a bank account to your paypal account paypal usually makes upto 2 small deductions from your bank account and then asks you to enter what the amounts were to verifiy the account is yours after this is done your paypal account linked to bank account is classed as verified, To verify your account in general is done via email.
Normally the small amounts are something like 0.23 & 0.47 after you verify they give the money back dont panic.
If all else fails this ...

Paypal makes deposits now. I think they got sued over the withdraw system so now they do it with deposits.
