Well, theres a point where it's just letting people in to see if their good, and then theres being open like Dem's mom.

For some people, there exists a line to always toe.
And for the select, rare few, lines exist to be trampled on brutally and efficently with the most gleeful of expressions just before they are gunned down spectacularly on the five o'clock news.

and i've been fleetless for longer then i care to remember with only a year or so in PB at the games release and a quick look into GTN after that.
after that i've never been in a fleet and ppl dont seem to care a whole lot.

Look at what I started...
Didn't think I would ruffle some feathers.
P.S.
FS is not what it was like the last few patches... I actually do control who comes and who’s "booted"

Yeah. Heck, i'll up the ante: any amount of money you want to bet says *I cannot* get into your fleet (FS), no matter how hard I tried.

Thought you had to be fleeted to have a tag? If so, how is it the game doesn't spit out attempts to override the system such as Timbo here with his creative name alteration. Such things could be bad for fleets. If the dev's wish to keep in the ability to make your own tag... why tag a fleet, make the players change thier name.
(can ya tell this isn't kosher with me?)

he is just mad because of a post that said there should be more incentives for fleeted members besides just being faction locked and having your own chat channel. Fleets are clans, and every game has them. Weather official or not they are there. With fleeted members you know who is on and should almost always have someone to play with or members to call on to help counter an invasion.
The one issue I have with non-fleeted people is trust. High ranked unfleeted people can easily sabo a planet with no one knowing till its too late. The other is you can be fighting along side them one min and the next there attacking you and telling your enemy the plan you just had. Faction hoppers are the worst kind of player around.
There should be an option in your profile to remain unfleeted but self faction locked. You would have to abide by the cool down time fleets do if you change sides. Maybe even have an [I] on there name or to show other players they are independents. This would be completely voluntary but would be a good idea to show ones loyalty to a faction.
Another idea would be that when you fist log in you are asked to pick a side (with a small brief rundown on the factions). You can change sides in your profile but (it should warn you) you need to wait a day or two to change sides again.
Maybe even use both of these ideas. It would fix the faction hopper issue that is plaguing the game. Its not been happening a lot (not that I have seen) but it dose occure and something should be implemented to stop it.

The only reason a person makes a post like this is because they are mad, jealous or bored.
Funny thing is it could backfire with a lot of great suggestions for why factions should be locked and fleets should be promoted more.
The entire premise of the balance on this game is that of fleet on fleet combat. Not fleet on planet, planet on planet, player on player, player on planet. It's Fleet vs Fleet.
Having a group that finds they play well, get along good, have similar thoughts and play styles come together and form a guild is not only natural, but vital to a game based on fleet vs fleet combat.
It's an obvious point that a 5 year old can see.

Hello, I too am posting in this thread to continue the clarion call of the end times. However, let me throw my hat in the ring and say that I have my doubts that any of Darkspace's active fleets are having much of a positive impact on the game. That's no reason to remove fleets from the game, but a little bit (a lot) of bleach in the community pool has been needed for about 6 years.
