I think factions should be removed from DS. There is too much of a mindset with some people who think you are nothing, useless, n00b if you are not in their faction and the ego of some of the people who belong to factions just bring down the enjoyment level of the game.
There is no need for factions, you don't get anything with factions you couldn't do without factions.
Anywhos just my thoughts on the subject after seeing someone post that factions were unfair because they create competition about farming planets...

Aye, why have factions? No war has ever been faught between two different factions, why start here. Every side is exactly the same, none have ever had a differing opinion of how wars are faught. Oh and we all know if we ever meet other life in the great void of space, they will be EXACTLY like us, speaking only pure Americanized English and being own'd by China, because, since we have no factions, since they give advantages, we're all American's, even those pesky Chin.. er I mean Americans over yonder.

To Clearify, by "Factions" I'm fairly sure he means Fleets or Clans..

If you are talking about fleets/clans then this thread would make more sense however I believe that clans give some people a particular sense of belonging that they don't get from trying to stick to one faction/race, and as such I don't think they will disappear any time soon or ever.

The Ego of a Noob to come in here and generalize and characterize people he clearly does not know in a game he clearly does not know is rather pathetic.
I've been here 5 years and frankly, You Are Wrong about DS.
The opinion that you are "nothing, useless, noob" is not simply because you aren't in their faction, fleet, or friendlist. It is probably because your EGO clashes with their "ego".
You are a Noob. It is clear to see because nobody...Belongs to a Faction.
They might belong to a Fleet, but that isn't a faction.
I'm very happy with my fleet, Fatal Squadron. I have no problem bragging on them and our collective ability to fight hard and play the game.
If that bruises your self-image, then find a new one.
