Hi everyone. I have been playing Darkspace for a while now and have a few acounts that I made up for myself that I don't need anymore and was hoping that you (the admins/mods of Darkspace) could delete them? (I have multiple accounts simply for the good ol' fun of goofing off).

Not to sound pushy or anything, but I would think that someone would delete old accounts that are not going to be used anymore. Respectfully, what is the purpose in leaving old accounts up that are abandoned and the users do not want them anymore?

Sadly, there are various reasons. Some of them are legal concerns, especially with regards to where transactions have occurred and a legal requirement to retain that information. And others are because it's necessary for our own internal security measures and procedures, which I am not at liberty to discuss.

Therefore, inactive accounts will not be deleted.

I am sorry.

Yeah, right, thats one way to say that you just dont want to do it:P I highly doubt that deleting an account would compromise any security feature you guys have:p

You could just say that there is no easy way other then to get in the database and do it manual. And you dont want to. (incorrectly deleting the stuff could, ofcourse, lead to some failures in the database)

Now now Sixkiller, no reason to Troll...

We are required to keep all accounts that have subscription history as a matter of business records. This is required by US law.

As stated above though, internal processes mandate that we retain all accounts and no longer delete any. It doesnt break anything if we do, though I find it rather annoying to go through old threads and read "Account Deleted". Breaks the historical archives of the game and community.

We use to purge old accounts after one year of activity but with people periodically returning to check out the game after patches and updates we started getting complaints about someones account being purged. So we listened and now no longer purge accounts.
