It all comes down to the same problem, DreadSpace|StationSpace.
Dreads and Stations are way too independent of smaller ships.
I wish something like a prequisite-tree would be make, something that wouldn't allow a player to draw a DreadNaught if hes the only one in the server (SERVER, not faction). For example: Someone connects in MV @ 3:00 a.m. He will most probably be completelly alone, so lets say, he can draw a Destroyer.
Someone else connects, joins some other faction, and hey! he can draw a Destroyer too. Now that there are 2 Destros. Someone connects, and joins the third faction, and everyone has Destros. Lets say now 6 people connect, two in each team, then all of them would have to use Destros, and the players with more time online could use the next rank of ships, untill two other people can fill the lowest possitions.
Something like this
2 destroyers (anywhere) unlock 1 cruiser per team
2 Cruisers (anywhere) unlock 1 Dread per team
2 Dreads (anywher) unlock 1 Station per team

Midas,
Get used to it. It's war out there, and nobody's gonna give the enemy any quarter when you engage them. I've had cruisers and dreads chase me when I was flying destroyers. And now I've multiple dreads trying to hit me in my cruiser.
I survived and ranked up. You're a rank above me.
You'll make it, don't worry.
Just fly in a pack, not solo.
If you're Kluth, do the wolf pack thing. Gang up on the enemy.
If you're uggy, then hug planets like crazy.
If you're ICC, er... do what they do best. LOL. [ This Message was edited by: Kenny_Naboo on 2010-03-25 23:16 ]

I understand you really, and i agree with you, althou currently we have no power whatsoever over that, you cant simply tell people to let there hard earned ship go and go somethign for your level only * Especially for Kltuh*

ugto
once you get near them (<5000gu) you get point-jumped by 3 dreads
you jump and you get jumped by another 2
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
the problem at the moment is:
ugto have way to much big ships
you either have to join em, or you cant do anything
My problem with "everyone starts" is that most of the player have forgotten it.
Another nice example today in Metaverse a rocket dread fights with another dread. Okay i sayed time for killing a platfom bam rocket spam and instead fighting a true enemie he was friring on me, 2.000 Klicks far away. yes.....
and i dont think this is a solo problem of me.
Communicating is a good thing and hints and tipps. The last tipp i got was abaout 1.40h ago, go builing in the scenario, 200 Prestige later and 1.30h Played my question, play i sim city?
So he shoots you from 2k. So you cloak. So his missiles disappear. So you move behind the platform/planet so he cant target you. So you uncloak. So you shoot more. So he jumps in. So you cloak again. So you go to another system.
Honestly, your biggest complaint is that people shoot at you. You cant do anything about that, ever. While i agree on the supply comment, i must say that i generally jump the bigger ships when they are around, however since Kluth have cloak, i sometimes shoot their supplies first, because their dreadnoughts will cloak before they die.
To test your theory I went ScoutSpace lastnight, what a bunch of laughs!
I died a total of 5 times, losing a HUGE 18 prestige. On the other hand, I beaconed and caught a number of K'luth and secured their death.
Some sensible flying and I managed to lower my casualties to next to nothing.
not at that time
was nuking in a missle-cruiser ugto platforms somewhere near zoca, no other ship around, ugto was messing with luth-dreads in r33
suddently 2 EADs+ 1 battle-dread jumped me, so i made an e-jump right through them (dreads= low turning-speed) i canceled the jump, and the within 2 seconds another 2 EADs directly jumped at ~100 and ~250 gu
you would have gotten out of this, but i didn't and i must admit, those are the moments, i think about quiting, not because i got killed, but because of the super-elite-omg-look-how-many-big-ships-i-have-players who need 6 dreads to kill my cruiser who sy in r33 just to kill my cruiser in lutyen [ This Message was edited by: NoBoDx on 2010-03-26 08:24 ]
I did my ranking up on scenario servers, back when there was no MV, and it wasn't played when it first went online.
Back then in scenarios the big ships were the exception not the rule.
There was also no gadget levels, so a scout's weapons were just as powerful as a dread's.
Both of those together meant it wasn't so painful to rank up, and cruisers were the most popular ship.
I do not know what it's like to be a new player in today's MV (or scenario). I can imagine it gets quite frustrating, since you won't be performing very well in combat vs fleets of dreads and stations. Oh sure you can supply, but what if you don't want to?
I would suggest that newer players who don't want to fly supply all the time play in scenario to rank up. Get used to flying smaller ships, dodging incoming fire, getting used to weapons ranges etc. Get some engineering experience. Experiment with the various ways of capping planets: there's close-orbit jumping, cloud bombing, RAZE infantry, etc. (don't ever try to cap a planet the way AI transports do!)
Plus, flying supply in MV all the time won't earn you your other badges. Supply is useful and always welcome, but you need badges for certain ships. Scenario is perfect for earning badges. Good luck doing lots of building and capping in the MV! Good luck earning combat badges in your destroyer vs fleets of dreads and stations! (it's definitely doable, but slow and dangerous) In scenario you can do it easier and take your time learning.
whats the current situation in scenario?
most capture the biggest planet, rush to get a sy and get enough ressources to spawn dreads
so most of the time the situation is the same as in mv
small ship get ganked by dreads
maybe the scenario-servers should be limited in rank, or the ships should be restricted
