Man, I remember playing DS beta back in 2001. If you were surrounded n hulled and at speed, you were mostly screwed cos your ship needed time to slow to 0 before jumping out.

And btw didn't e-jumping damaged jumpdrives back then?

I kinda miss that. I wouldn't be opposed to that coming back again. Think about what it would mean: People wouldn't be able to jump away from a dangerous situation so easily, we'd have to plan our jumps, and tranny rushes would be really dangerous, having to slow to 0 to jump away when out of dictor range, or e-jumping and damaging your drive costing you potentially precious time.

To add something to counter a setting meant to protect (in the case of Planets) and Trap Ships trying to jump, would completely make the Interdictor Useless

following this:
-> PD are useless, because they counter missles
-> shields/armor are useless, because they counter weaponfire
-> bombs are useless, because they counter the building-progress of an enginer

i understand that some are against such a device,
but i think we should have a possibility to rescue damaged ships out of an dictored battlefield, by sacrificing another ship (->the counter-dictor)

Ah see thats childish, and you Misunderstood what i said.

Some Counter's a Fine as it aids in making the Game better, But like its been said there already are Counters to the Interdictor. Get 1000 GU's Away or Have someone open a Wormhole, And any ship can outrun a Interdictor Cruiser. The Power Drain on the Jump Disrupter is Massive meaning that the Ship cant possibly keep up with another Ship and still maintain Power to Supply the Jump disrupter.

Tranny Rush's are bad enough on their own, but if they make Anti-Dictors people will use those so they can jump as close to a Planet as possible so they dont have to risk getting shot at 1000 GU Meaning they will be Whored alongside with Tranny Rush's.

You need to think about all Aspects of a Suggestion, not just make a Suggestion and fight over it when its obviously never going to happen. Im sorry to say that i do not think your Suggestion will ever happen.

Its simply not a good idea in the long run, and will hurt DS and their Servers

there already is one solution to the dictor problem...

kill the dictor.

ok, then i want a deathstar to kill those anoying planets with a dictor on it

And this is already possible, Bomb the Interdictor or Move away from it. The Planet based Interdictors CANNOT FOLLOW YOU.

It seems to me that you just had too many bad run ins with Interdictors and Hate everything about them.

Seriously........ a "Deathstar"...... where would this ever be accepted?

my main problem with dictors is by the time your 800GU away they just jump to you.... impossible to get away. and not all ships can kill them fast enough to not die. hell, some ships are beaten off by the weapons on a dictor.

If you're in a ship that cant kill a dictor, you should have brought 1 that could.

Everytime I see a dico, it'll have at least 3 or more ships on it. Dreads and cruisers.

Everytime I get into a dico, I have multiple dreads on me immediately. I will get missile spammed, such that I have to turn on the PD that drains more energy. In most cases, my energy runs out pretty fast and I have to scoot outta there, and if my teammates wasn't fast enough to kill the quarry, he'd get away once the dictor field dropped.

There are ways to use dicos effectively, of which many vets here already know. Won't discuss 'em here.

Oh yeah. K'luths would welcome this, for the obvious reasons. LOL.....

This is not always possible.... not everyone has access to a decent destroyer or better....

also remember that a dictor cant go very fast for very long.
a dictor CANT kill you with the current weapons
so you should be able to outrun the bugger with ease even in a dread.

i can keep a dread almost all the time in a dictor-field
youre faster, can turn faster, and can stay most of the time on the rear-side where they can not harm you
without draining all of your energy

the problem is that you also cant kill them

if you team up with a dread, you can use them as a shield and dont need to evade enemy fire

I can kill a dictor in a scout,granted it takes a while,but doable.
and at the least make him drain power so the dictor field dies.
