i know i've come up with random ship ideas or tweaks or addons to the game but i'll still throw them about incase one day who knows i might come up with a good idea.

when i was building plats around procyon in the scenario server and also watching the film alien.

i watched part of the film in my top corner of my screen and there appeared a huge cargo vessel. those who have seen the film might of seen something like this



and yet in a space game like darkspace we have troop transports and extractors but no cargo vessels for transporting resources from planet to planet or to engineers to build plats.

minimum weaponary but high storage maybe 20-30 storage for minerals/res
basically a slow assed 32 wheeler truck in space.

imagine if the planets traded with other planets using the spaceports, an AI cargo vessel would orbit one planet trade metal or another mineral as such and transport it to a planet requiring it.

the planets can sustain themselves and collect minerals rather then resources.
it was more fun with all the mineral elements then resources.
it brought mining into the game more.
if for example as i read in a topic before about getting pres for mining and selling to planets I.E 0.1 pres per 1k but planet limit will occur, if an ice planet max minerals on planet would be 100k of each element or something to that extent.

when u build a planet you need factories/mines on there to build up the planets credit system like you would for current planet resources the planet then buys the required minerals in an planetary order system. either AI or players can sell the urgently required minerals to the planet..

I.E..
if the order is in the plantary order system, (a new system stating which planets need what minerals).
the players COULD (doesn't mean they would) sell the required mineral to the planet in question for double the normal pres amount 0.2 pres.

btw bring back minerals then the current resources system

so you want a transport ship thats able to store up to 30k res at once. nice on paper but in game it would mean 1 tranny could hold enough troops to cap a planet by its self making tranny rushing even faster.

i said res/minerals never said anything about troops it's not a troops carrier

Like Doran said, THe current transport is not a Dedicated troop transport. ITs a Transport, cargo, troops, your mother, it can be used in both ways

2nd point. THe current system makes the inf and Resource the exact same thing in a way. You can't limit one but boost the other, there both "items" stored on the ships and the current transport got a max of 10 items, whatever is inf, resources, Enhancement. Changing the inf and Resource to split them from a class would require the staffs to recode, not only the tranny,s but all the freaking ships in the game
and 30k resources is just plane silly, would be cool to see a transport of the size of a dread lol

my mother? anyway a 20-30k limit on a ship would mean A: even if it was lightly armoured and gunned, kluth can cloak and use it (hehe) to cap a planet in 1, and avoid dying despite low armour. B: you would run out of room on the screen for that much cargo, already 10k takes up nearly half the screen lol

clearly your not running the same res as me which is 1920x1080. at this res, your trying to find your 10k on your screen, and maybe without success

We already had the 2nd idea in the game a while ago.
AI transports ferrying resources between planets. Turned out they lagged the place to hell and back aswell as providing excelent farming prospects for pres hungry players.
The way the AI is moving nowadays, the idea might be worth a second shot though.
