The lack of intelligence in this thread scares me.

Since Doran didn't mention music (and 500mb of music is not worth it).

WinDirStat [?]
Diablo 1
DOSbox and any number of things related
Genetos
Total Annihilation Spring
Frozen Synapse
Dwarf Fortress
Toribash
Minecraft (world of minecraft client)
Malwarebytes
Spybot
Avast Antivirus (for the bootup scan)
Any of these
COMODO internet security installer, just because.
Can you fit EV Nova on that? I haven't had it installed for awhile to check the size.
Winmerge
http://www.mydefrag.com/
Winrar, 7zip, uTorrent, of course
Notepad++
ffmpeg or the WinFF GUI, with LAME
Winamp
Osmos
PC Wizard 2010

If you can fit them, one of these:
Sacrifice
Battlezone
Dungeon Keeper 2
While nowhere near the depth of the above, The Wonderful End of the World is half as big as those and is a good timekiller.

This leaves plenty of room for whatever else, if you don't squeeze on one of the last four.

I'd make it a bootable Acronis loader.

With a portable harddrive along, I can make copies of any PC's harddrive that I get physical access to.

That, or a zipped n hacked copy of some useful software that I might often wanna use, courtesy of Pirate Bay.

Well, on a more serious note, there's always classics like Master of Orion 2, Stronghold, Master of Magic, Millennium, Alien Legacy, and Fallout. At least I'm pretty sure most of them would fit on that drive.
