So, taking a page from WoW here in a thought that just occured to me.

How difficult would it be for the game to pull a target-of-target data packet and show it to friendlies?

Example A) F2 Navmap mode only: When I click a faction-mate's ship in the F2 navmap (or goto F2 having selected their ship) a second circle-target will appear (different color: blue?) that is selectable which denotes their current target. This could either be a manual point in space, or an enemy ship, a planet, or even yourself (will have to take that into account if this got added so infiniteloopdoom didn't occur).

Example B) Target-info window only: When I click that faction-mate's ship, I will get a little icon with his target in it - this would likely be the same icon that would be displayed on the ship-list in F2 Navmap just for simplicity's sake. It is clickable, and when clicked your target focus is now that person, planet, structure, item, or platform. There could be a key to target your target's target (say that five times fast, I dare you) that isn't currently used... M? C? I don't have a key listing... but there are plenty out there.

Example C) Minimum coding: Instead of an interactive feature, a stripped down version that would require minimal changes to the code from my understanding. All it does is display a text of their target. Not nearly as helpful or effective, but a step in the right direction.

Example D) All of the above. Incorporate both the F2 function and the target-info window function.

Dig in, kiddies. Questions, comments, flames and farts.

I would recommend lines between the two ships rather than circles or something.

You pull up F2 and you see a line drawn from each friendly ship to its current target.

This will let you see the spread or concentration of fire and help fleet leaders better manage coordinated attacks. I like it, and I really do not think that would be a difficult thing to add to the game.

With a dozen or so people on like we've had lately, that would be a sloppy sloppy mess - not to mention just plain rediculous. Good thought though... I think it would just be a bit overboard.

Guess you have never use the "Y" key in Navigation (F2)

This will show all the orders of all ships..
While this might not be the "target" idea you have in mind. ITS DARN HANDY to see who has what order (ai and *ahum* check Beta)

I have - and what I'm thinking is similar - but I want to know who that AD next to me is targeting, who that Station is targeting. I'd even go so far as to want to be able to see which diamond that bomber is aiming for.
