I was just thinking (it hurt) that when people get promoted alot of people in the MV congratulate them which as someone who has recently gone up is quite nice. Could you increase the attention or appreciation (however thats spelt) to do with promotion via the actual game though?
What I mean by this is when you get promoted, instead of "You have been promoted to [insert rank]" you could have somthing more user friendly saying "Congratulations soldier, you have been promoted to the rank of [insert rank]. Do the fleet proud and serve with honor".
Just an idea, and I hope you all have versions of somthing like I suggest. Keep in mind I just made that up off the top of my head so it probably isn't somthing you should take to heart in terms of what to change the promotion message to ^^.

On a more serious note, I don't think it would add much. Everyone knows that it's an automated message, so it doesn't really have the impact that someone saying it personally to you would have.
I suppose you could append "congratulations!" to the end of the message, but that's about all you'd need and could add before it becomes too cheesy.

maybe an extra bonus of prez when you reach each rank and levelup
like 5 pres bonus for midshipmen who become ensign
then 10 pres when ensign makes 2nd LT.
... 20 pres when 2nd LT makes 1sr LT.
... 40 prez when 1st LT makes LT Com.
you know something like that so that the noobs dont lose faith every time they get demoted right after getting promoted...
