i get that the QST does more dmg and the ION cannon does more range, but what about the poor stellar incinirator?????

The most damage, some of it is PSI which cannot be resisted by shields or specialized armor. I believe it does energy/PSI damage? Some say kinetic/PSI because it's a projectile but I really thought it was energy.

The SI has the highest potential damage out of all the core weapons, but it's also somewhat randomised, so it can potentially do less damage than the other core weaps.

But you can bet on it doing more damage, on average.

I can't comment on what damage type is is, though.

It has a chance to do 20% more and 10% less than a QST (as a comparison). They also, as Sparkles pointed out, cannot be resisted.

From what I was told at one time (dont know if this has been changed).

QST: Biggest damage but large min/max random damage. Higher damage potential but with such a wide range it doesn't do it often. KN damage.
IC: second damage but an even bigger min/max due to 2 shots being fired, as such is the second highest possible damage. KN damage.
SI: Lowest max damage BUT has a very small min/max and, as gheja said, has a better average damage. So the SI may seem more powerful but its not, also its damage is/was PSI/KN. So its damage didn't get reduced all that much even by UGTO's KN ablative armor, or ICC's small PSI resist it has.

I believe you were told the opposite, Star.
From what BS said, I assume the damage should like:
  • QST
    - Damage: min X, max Y.
    - Chance to do couter attack: Z.
    - Damage type: Energy.
    - Speed: ~105gu.
    - Range: 1050gu.
  • IC
    - Damage: min 120%X, max 90%Y.
    - Chance to do couter attack: 90%Z.
    - Damage type: Energy + Kinetic.
    - Speed: ~110gu.
    - Range: 1250gu.
  • SI
    - Damage: min 90%X, max 120%Y.
    - Chance to do couter attack: 110%Z.
    - Damage type: Energy + PSI.
    - Speed: ~100gu.
    - Range: 850gu.

It's better to equip Reflective when fighting K'Luth.

i think i read somewhere that, the SIs do the smallest damage but the min/max values are very close together
qst are in the middle-area ( medium damage // medium min/max values)
and IC do the most damage, but the min/max values are far away from each other (since 2shots are fired)

but cant say, where i read it though (the forums need a search-function)

Where you read that, it's malarckey. The SI has the widest min-max value and should be less reliable, but in most cases it has a much better chance of doing more damage than it has at doing less.

Where X = QST guaranteed damage, and with the format of (guaranteed damage + up to maximum random damage):

QST damage = (x + <0.5x direct) + (0.75x + <0.75x area)
Ion damage = (0.6x + <0.4x direct) + (0.25x + <0.18x area)
Stellar damage = (1.5x + <0.75x direct) + (0.33x + <0.1x area)
