if the mandi is the beam boat like the parasite cruiser and drainer destroyer, how come the siphon gets the elf beams?
Beam Boats-
Drainer-has elf
Parasite-has elf
Mandible-no elf?

Assault Boats-
Claw-no elf
Scale-no elf
Siphon-has elf?

ELFs drain power, they aren't damage based weapons

There aren't any beam ships. Its just that some have more beams than others.
If you notice, the Mandible has a high damage per second, but it can't sustain more than 3 consecutive alpha strikes even if its just sitting. Also, it needs to be within 250 gu to use all its might.

Compare with the Siphon, which has beams but has more projectiles. It can deal 1/2~2/3 of its max damage per second at a distance over 400 gu. It can feasibly sustain over 10 medium range alphas, and almost 5 close range alphas because it uses ELF beams.

Now, : Scale vs Parasite
Has many beams and torpedoes.|Has many beams and missiles.
Uses close range.|Uses close, medium and long range.
Sustains some closerange alphas.|Sustains multiple closerange alphas because of ELF, and fully sustains medium/long range missile alphas.

To compare the drainer and claw, we have to look at the the pre-537 era. *FlashBack*
Back then, : Claw vs Drainer
Had close to a dozen beams, and half a dozen torpedoes.|Had half a dozen beams, some cannons and dual missiles.
Did not have fusion reactor.|Probably had a fusion reactor.
Used to do only close range alphas.|Did medium and close range alphas.
Sustained barely 3 alphas.|Sustained well over 6 alphas.

Conclusion?K'Luth don't have beam and assault ships. They have close ranged and medium ranged. *Think Mandible vs Krill/Siphon/Ganglia*

Maybe you should know , cruisers are done and they are working on dreads layout .Everything will be changed.

correct me, if im wrong, but afaik most of the luth-ships are beam and assault-ships

Yes they are. Even the long-ranger ganglia can dish out significant damage to current cruisers, and be a threat to command dreadnoughts, all because of its multiple cannons and presence of an assault disruptor. it even has fighters.

Would you say its an assault ship? From a general perspective, yes. From a K'Luth perspective, no.

K'Luth ships are required to have more beams to emphasize close-range combat (which coincidently is missing from the Stinger missile destroyer. Then again, it is focusing on long range). If noticed, all K'Luth dreads have an assault disruptor and large beam battery. (Weirdly, all K'Luth dreads have some heavy cannons too o_O)

My segregation of K'Luth ships into long-ranged and close-ranged is based on the ships of v1.530 (old). They were easy to categorise because they were of the same edition (i.e. the v1.5 Edition 1).

Once the new ships come out, it will be time for a new categorisation.
