I think the point of a blackhole in DS would be the same as anything else -- more game content. which I think DS needs a lot more of to wake people up.

too bad resources are limited.

ooh yeah i remember that, a few steamrunners could destroy several ships using there engine overloads near a blackhole

didn't the scientists create a micro black hole in the Large hadron collider for a split micro second?

i know there was mega safety concerns about it, if the scientists screwed up the maths it would of been the end of the earth and the solar system.. >_>
however we are still all here.. or are we?

hence why the LHC was nicknamed the black hole factory shorty afterwards.
because black holes now keep popping up when they are using the LHC..

so Black holes do exist and have been proved since at least 2006..

I read that there's two different kinds of black holes: those formed by a gravitational collapse (like a star) and eternal black holes which are the (so far) theoretical black holes connected to white holes. If they're rotating you emerge through a white hole in another dimension. They are only theorized because of equations.

I only think the former have ever been observed.

It could be interesting ingame, but then again our jumpgates and wormholes are already the same thing, just without the "black hole, white hole" graphics.

blackholes are invisible, except for when theyre destroying a star.

if there were a star-destroying blackhole in game, you wouldnt want to visit it anyways.

discussion end.

not to mention it would damage darkspaces player base even more.

but everyone still seems to post content that will do that and that only.

WHY IS THAT?

black holes are still theoretical.......

however, what good would one do in ds? what would its purpose be? Is it just for visual effects? How visual is a black void? It couldn't have any effect on game play.

And I can see the reports to the mods now:

/report yeah, been flying for a whole day to get to that black hole in Luyten, I'm outa gas and it isnt getting any closer...wtf yo?

not sure why they would bother, tbh.

Well black holes can be used ot get to another system example; luyten to tau ceti

Because they don't add anything useful to the game other than being another off-limits area.

It will take you a very, very long time to get sucked into a blackhole. Not fun.

Well you can create a swirl of gas and dust cant you.
So simply create a swirl of cosmic matter put a large black void in the middle
and a beam of gamma rays and you got a visual blackhole

Black holes I think are accepted as fact now. It's white holes that are theoretical now.

They are accepted because they make the math work, that doesn't make them fact.

Black holes are accepted now because there is one in the middle of our Galaxy. The only reason why Black holes are rare is because there is ZILLIONS AND ZILLIONS AND ZILLIONS of light years between stars... and black holes are probably 60x that amount away from our humble little abode we call earth. Back to the topic at hand, why don't we hve black holes?

Answer: If we had black holes... The Metaverse wouldn't be around for very long.

Another answer to this question is: Black Holes would be hard to find seeing as you would have to look at the light being distorted by a black hole... So you could be tootling along to Mars and your ship just goes POP just gets twisted and distorted and you will be like WTF??? [s]Valkaryie Synperco has been destroyed by a Black Hole![/s]

I don't think you want to be randomly destroyed now do you?
