An old fashion battle sceen. hope you enjoy

Chapter Twenty

Admiral Achilles was woken by the muffled thump and then rocking of his
entire room. He wondered to himself for a very brief moment.

Was that a torpedo hit?

He quickly snapped out of his naivety. He should of knew better.

Staff Sgt Nolskog was firm in the helmsman seat on-board the Skövde,
trying too dodge incoming fire.

“Get those dam Cannons locked on that supply ship!” he barked.

“Staff if we keep this up we'll rip the ship to pieces! She can't handle this
manoeuvring and firing” cried back the Petty officer.

“Just keep hitting that Supply ship!”

Nolskog saw a on his small sensor screen the picture of incoming
torpedoes from high Port. He pushed the controls down and Starboard to
try go under the torpedoes, while getting his huge back end to swing
round to met the supply ship on it's open side, which with the help of a
stray salvo from the Bradley had cleaned a hole in the enemy supply ships
hull.

The ship thudded as the bottom three of the five torpedo salvo struck the
top of the rear arch over the engines.

“Sir damage to the number three engine!”

“How bad?” asked Nolskog.

“Only 80% thrust!”

“Roger! Have the auto repairs work on it!”

Admiral Achilles sprinted down the hallway from his Cabin to the bridge. He
dodged crew and wounded alike. Suddenly, the ship lurched forward
sharply, causing zero G. Achilles quickly found himself floating at rapid pace
towards the far away bulkhead, then slammed back onto the deck. He
quickly got up and keep going. Finally reaching the back of the bridge,
when again the ship pulled up from it's dive and went hard port, causing
him to be stuck in his position with a G count he thought of about Six or
Seven G's.

He powered the four or five steps he had in the G forces, before it let up.
He quickly ran into the bridge and slipped into his seat, strapping himself in.

“Report!” he ordered.

“Sir four M.I dreadnoughts, five M.I Cruisers and a two M.I supply ships

drop out and blew the U.W.S Sheen out of the water, while the U.W.S
Black has been hulled and is withdrawing” cried out the weapons officer.

“Order all ships to fire on the most damaged M.I dreadnought!”

“Aye sir, order sent.”

“Swing Hard Port, release mines and fire!” commanded Achilles.

“Aye release mines!”

A shudder was felt as twenty EMP mines spued from there release hatch
from the rear of the ship, while at the same time the full might of the entire
Command ships weapons fired onto the M.I dread, Six lasers, eight sets of
three-nine round busts from the heavy cannons and ten proton torpedoes
smashed into a weak spot near it's engine blowing off the engine root.

Achilles and the bridge crew looking threw the viewing glass squinted
heavily due to the massive amount of light and heat from the nuclear
explosion that ripped the root off.

“Come round and hit it again!” ordered the Bradley’s captain.

The ship pulled hard Starboard and pushed down to bring the full wrath of
the all the ships weapons, only the weapons on the respective side of the
hull could fire in any one direction, all could be fired in forwards direction
and in case of some new ICC Cruisers and Dreadnoughts rearwards also
much to the annoyance to Torpedo ship Captains.

As the M.I dreadnought came into view a battle cruiser could be seen
passing rapidly firing all she had at the M.I ship, followed by it's destroyer
escort doing the same the incoming fire blowing off the second engine. The
Flashes of explosions and firing of weapons reigned the background.

“Fire everything when we're in laser range!” yelled Achilles.

The M.I ship was trying to turn itself around to bear down her torpedoes
onto the Bradley, M.I ships are well known for selecting appropriate
targets to fire on based on algorithms that they create. This basicly means
instead of firing on the closest ship, or the weakest like most human
commanders, but the one that both posed the most threat at the time and
was or contained a high value target like the Admiral commanding the fleet
your fighting.

“Sir look, it's partly repaired from the last run” Said a bridge officer.

Achilles looked and true to the officer's statement, half of the engine and
it's connections to the main ship had been repaired.

“Sensors, where about is there supply ships?” asked Achilles

“One is KIA and the other I can't find sir”

“Well find it!”

“Sir, there. Starboard side of the middle engine!” pointed out a enlisted
person.

Achilles quickly spotted it, he watched as a UGTO battle dreadnought
climbed up and fired it's weapons on the underside of the supply ship, It's
lasers beams searing though it's armour, and then two stingray torpedoes
smashing though the hold straight though it's hull, tearing it into several
pieces followed by a massive green fire ball which engulfed the bridge of
the battle dreadnought as it passed though the wreckage.

Staff Sargent Nolskog pulled the Abram’s controls hard Port and pulled
back with all his might. The ship crocked and moaned as it's frame strained
against the G-forces of the turn.

“Fire on the Dreadnought!” he yelled.

Admiral Achilles watched as the Abram's swung hard to port firing all her
guns and torpedoes on the weakened rear end of the M.I dreadnought,
blowing a significant portion or internal workings out into space.

The Abram's rear end 'power sided' and struck the newly repaired engine
tearing it clean off as it attempted to distance itself from the M.I
dreadnought, firing on a passing Cruiser that two cruisers and a destroyer
were trying to contain it.

Admiral Achilles quickly and without hesitating ordered guns to fire on the
hole in the hull made by the Abram's. The Salvo ripped right though, but
didn't destroy the ship so Achilles ordered a second and third salvo
followed by a salvo of torpedoes when he was in range. The last torpedo
hit and was followed by a chain reaction of explosions from within the hull
ending with another cataclysmic green fire ball.

The Bradley smashed though the fireball and thumps and thud heard as
debris struck the armour plating on the hull.

“Status!” Ordered Achilles

“100% armour on rear, 70% Starboard, 30% port and 1.5% Front, 2% hull
damage centred around the fore of the ship. We also have five KIA crew in
the lower torpedo bay with fifty WIA on the port side”

Not too bad Achilles thought.

“Hit the next dreadnought” ordered Achilles.

The Bradley banked Starboard and increased speed to met another M.I
dreadnought which the Bradley’s Sister ship the battle dreadnought U.W.S
Marder was attempting to engage with one of it's escort battle cruisers,
however were very outclassed by the superior M.I ship and were
struggling to get a whole in it's armour and at the same time taking a lot of
damage.

The Marder's Captain, Captain Zeibe of German descent his great grand-
father x3 and mother moved from Berlin to Europa after the colony was set
up. Zeibe was a ten year space combat veteran with 'Ace' status like most
of his Dreadnought commander colleges. He was of typical German build,
around six foot three inches with jet black hair and Light blue eyes and
strong masculine facial futures.

“Sir we have hull breech in the fifth mess” cried out a operator

“Seal it!” barked Zeibe

Zeibe had his ship try to get around and under the M.I where it was not
armed a design flew that all factions have seemed to over looked, and
Captain Zeibe was going to take advantage of this.

The ship ship's controls were sluggish due to battle damage and the arch
over the rear of the ship clipped the the lowest spar that stretched below
the dreadnought, gashing the arch.

As the Marder flew under the dreadnought firing her guns and laser
upwards, the U.W.S Bradley came from the fore of the Marder pulling up
towards and fired all her weapons, breaching the shields and most of the
armour.

Zeibe checked his screen and noticed Hull integrity at 29 per cent.

“Get us out of here Helm”

“Aye sir”

The helm officer used his initiative and plotted a course for a spot twelve
thousand G.U away far enough for him Tachyon wake to not be picked up
and tracked, a mistake many do not survive. He also ordered a Supply ship
to met them at their location so they could return to the combat zone to
assist.

“Bradley, Marder withdrawing for repairs”

“Roger Marder, Bradley out”

The Marder preformed a emergency jump or E-jump as it's known by crews
to the random point the Nav officer had selected for the helm.

E-Jumps are used by crews of heavily damaged or outnumbered crews to
escape destruction. A favourite tactic of Assault ship crews UGTO, ICC and
to a lesser extent K'luth is called 'Point jumping' where the Assault ship
would sit back from the combat, pick a target, jump to around ten G.U or
less and let lose on it's weapons and jump out as quickly as there jump
drive can recharge. The goal is to destroy the ship or at least servilely
damage the ship so a follow up attack or another ship may finish it off. This
is the mainstay tactic used by torpedo ships with different commanders
using slight variations to suit there style with the more 'braver'
commanders staying until they have been destroyed there target or
jumping out only when they are servilely damaged and lesser ones only
staying until there Jump drive recharges and jumping out straight away.

The Bradley turned, while the Abram’s did a pass with a pair of Battle
cruisers. But it at this rate it was going to be tough fought, The Marder, a
battle cruiser and four destroyers had withdraw and two destroyers had
been destroyed. And only the supply ships, three cruisers and one
dreadnought had been taken out.

Achilles could see the strain on his crew.

“Order all ships to E-jump Immediately” he said

“Sorry sir you say withdraw?”

“Yes, order all ships to E-jump and then fall to our position when we give
the word.

“Aye sir, message away and ships are withdrawing”

Two Hours later....

“M.I you say?” asked the voice of Grand Marshal Flash

“Yes Sir, hit us with our pants round our ankles”

Flash sighed and breathed heavily thinking for a moment.

“How bad Admiral?”

“1/4 of my Destroyers are KIA, another are write off's and the rest are still
intact. Two of my cruisers are shot to pieces and one is pretty much being
held together by the welds created by energy weapons.”

“And your Dreadnoughts?”

“We're in a reasonable shape, Marder is back in combat condition and the
Abram's is currently being repaired”

“Wait......Abram's? That was one of the ships you were sent to find wasn't
it?”

“Yes sir, my Marines boarded and took control then the M.I attacked and
they helped take out the supply ships and a dreadnought”

“Wow. Wait, what about the other ships?”

“Our teams had the ships play dead when the M.I showed, and the M.I
didn't show any interest in them, but I haven't heard anything since we
have withdrawn”

“Roger, make sure you hear from them”

“Yes sir, anything else”

“Oh don't get me started, we've had a hard time containing the M.I, ICC
and K'luth and not to mention the priates.”

“Hear the ICC are getting it pretty bad”

“Yeah they are” replied Flash

“Home system been bombed twice now”

Achilles stared off into space for a bit, something was turning in his head,
he quickly snapped out of it when Flash spoke again.

“Also, I’ve sent a Juggernaut squadron fresh from Sol to back you up, they
should arrive shortly”

“Huh? Oh yeah, roger sir I’ll inform the Sensor boys so they don't shoot at
them”

“You ok Admiral?”

“Yeah, just thinking about what you said about the ICC”

“I wouldn't worry about them, there our enemy remember”

“I know”

“Alright, I’ve got a meeting with the chancellor” said Flash, making a gun
with his fingers and pretending to blow his brains out.

Achilles chuckled “Good luck sir, Achilles out”

Achilles got up and headed back towards the bridge, a seed of doubt
growing in his mind.

He entered the bridge, the smell of electrical fire smoke and singed hair
consumed the bridge.

“Whats the Abram's like?” he asked as the Sensor officer approached him.

“That’s what I’m here for sir”

An instant worry hit Achilles

“What?”

“Well sir, when sifting though data on the bridge, Staff Sargent Nolskog
found something”

“Like what”

“He believes the ships computer intercepted a message from one of the
Dreadnoughts to an unknown location describing something, we are still
decoding it”

“What does it say?”

The officer brought it up on her holopad, and handed it to Achilles.

“They do not know the importance of what or who they are. We try to
push them, but instead they do the opposite may the makers show them
the way.”

“This doesn't make sense?

“Also came with a location which we don't get either”

“Why where does it lead?”

“Lunar”

“Earth's moon?”

“Yes”

“When everything is decoded I want it sent to me with another copy to go
to Flash”

“Yes sir”

I'm Back in the saddle again! Well if only for a wee while.

Enjoy, and as always leave you thoughts.

Chapter Twenty-One

Juex looked up towards the night sky. The Moon was big and bright tonight
and Juex bast in it's light.

Juex heard someone approaching, and turned to see Shadowalker sitting
down next to him.

“Beautiful isn't it?” Juex Commented.

“Yeah, it is”

“Always fascinated me, Always will” Said Juex.

“In the heat of battle, most forget what a true wonder space is”
Commented Shadowalker.

“I bet” Replied Juex Softly.

“So your lady friend sort those sensor stuff out?” asked Juex.

“Almost, just doing testing and should be good to go”

“Yeah when you had my men digging though your ship they found this”
said Juex handing over a mid size metallic object slightly bigger then a
Ipod-touch.

“Looks like just another piece of hull”

“It what we thought to, but it doesn’t match anything from your or ICC's
ships”

“But it matched a alloy from a meteor that landed in the north island a few
weeks ago”

“But if your here for something, I’m guessing it's not here” Juex pointed
towards the stars. “But out there”

Shadowalker got up and grabbed Juex on the shoulder.

“Only one way to find out”

“How though?”

“You have two wreaked interstellar ships at your disposal your imagination”

“Still doesn’t address the problem of you travelling forward in time”

“Leave that too us”

The Large oval table was lit by two lights dangling from the roof, like a old 1960's war film many high ranking officials, military and civilian sat around debating.

It has been only two weeks since what has been called the 'Great battle
of Lalande' since, the M.I.R have completely pushed out of there home
system of Procyon and decimated R33, Luycan, Tau Ceti and Epsilon Eri
or 'Contested Space' I.C.C had been pushed back to there strong point of
CD+36*15693 and UGTO had been holding Lalande, Barely.

Things had become so bad that the I.C.C and UGTO had formed an Alliance
under the old adage 'The Enemy of my Enemy is my Friend'. It's not the
first time the ICC and UGTO have done this. Before the K'luth became
known both factions had suspected each other for the increase in ships
going MIA in the Epsilon Eri system but soon they discovered that they
were both having the same problem and sent a joint task force to find out
why. They Quickly found out.

“Marshal we both know that the CD system is a good place to defend” said
a ICC Marshal by the name of Brutality the third in command of the 'Faster
then Light Squadron'

“Yes I agree, but what I’m saying is that system is awkward to defend with
the vast distances between planets we can't hold it all at once” Replied
Grand Marshal Steveyk, Navy commander from the UGTO Fleet Renegade
Space Marines.

Quickly an Argument broke out between the Various Marshals and High
Ranking Admirals.

“Quiet!” Shouted Chief Marshal Defiance, Commanding Officer of Faster
than Light.

“Listen up and listen quickly, we're done here. It's quite simple really.” “
Steve, have your 1st Naval Group Goose guard the gate, attack anything
that comes though. We''l have the 2nd with us here on Exathra with our
Navy”

“Yes but one Navy isn't going to hold back an entire M.I Invasion” replied
Steveyk.

“That’s the point, you cause as much damage as possible and fall back on
our position where your 2nd Navy will pound the snap out of hit up front,
and our long range guns with Exathra's Anti-ship weapons will hit them
from afar. Basic UGTO/ICC tactics at work here” Replied Defiance.

“But...”

“Enough Marshal, I wasn't suggesting I was telling. Your Fleet has been
placed under my command and I expect you to follow orders like the rest
under my command.” replied Defiance.

“This is Nuts! I'm a UGTO Grand Marshal the 3rd in command of our entire
Navy I wont stand for this!” barked Steveyk

“Enough Steve” Said Chief Marshal Nemesis, RSM's Commander, Grabbing
Marshal Steveyk and pulling him down.

“We're done here” Said Nemesis standing up.

“We know where and what we need to do. We'll have most of you Torpedo
ships with us at the Gate, and I’d like a ICC Assault group with me, there
long range torpedo can complement our short range ones.”

“I see, I'll Assign Grand Admiral Loyalty from FTL, his Assault Cruiser Group
can assist.”

“Thank you, if you don't mind gentleman” said Nemesis putting his Officers
hat on. “We have a war to fight.”

The UGTO officers got up and followed Nemesis. The UGTO had sent it's
largest 'Fleet' in the form of the Renegade Space Marines. 'Fleets' were like
a grouping of Commanding officers of certain naval groups, who would
bring there group with them on a deployment like this. It's more common
now that people associate with there fleet rather then there Naval group.

Renegade Space Marines were the back bone of the UGTO. Two Fleets
dominate the UGTO Navy. The Renegade Space Marines and the Galactic
Navy. Chief Marshal Flash is part of the Renegade Space Marines so he
thought it would be wiser to send the larger fleet to help the ICC, he
assigned the Galactic Navy, who Shadowalker is a Admiral in to defend
UGTO home space.

'Faster Than Light' are the Mainstay fleet in the ICC Navy and also their
elite strike force, for when the Admiralty want something done they called
FTL. Since the defence of CD*36 is now under there command, all ICC and
UGTO ships are under FTL command. Much to the dismay of RSM, one of
their main rivals.

Six months had past since the UGTO and ICC had Landed on Earth and The
Ground War was not going well for Juex. In the last month he'd lost almost
Two Hundred fighters, the work on converting the remains of the Discovery
had left the Resistance with there pants down when trying to deal with
defending there secret. Juex had ordered that all raids stop, so they may
focus on defending the launch platform.

Work moved at a good pace. The Idea was that they could use a working
Ion drive from the Discovery with it's Jump drive and a small crew
compartment and fly back to the Station that sent them back in Time.
Hopefully they could find a way back home.

Magoo walked slowly past the engine, inspecting the welds.

Not Good enough, no way they could survive FTL he thought.

“Again” he ordered

A loud sigh could be heard.

“Sir that's the sixth time” replied a welder.

“I know, but we're talking about forces that are so mind boggling that you
couldn't possibly understand, we need need the best welds to hold this
together because I’m not going to have that engine detach at faster then
light speeds.”

“All right but we ain't doing it again”

“Well you better get it right, or else you will” replied Magoo walking away.

Magoo walked down to Juex's tent, inside Shadowalker and Juex were
going over the drawings for the new spacecraft. And that’s what they just
were, a few drawings on some paper.

“Welds need redone” Said Magoo Entering.

“Again?” asked Shadowalker.

“Yeah, still not strong enough”

“snap, how long?” replied Juex

“Ten Hours”

“Well we better get working on the rest then” said Tucker, who had just
come in.

“Oh been wondering where you've been” Said Magoo

“Was at the crash site, gather more stuff”

“What you find”

“Just the usual, we finally got the Life support system parts we needed, as
well as a welder from the workshop we had on-board.”

“Oh great, you take it to the workers?” asked Juex.

“Yeah, now we should be able to have the ship put together correctly this
time” said Magoo.

“Yeah. Oh I almost forgot, I found this metal trunk with Orion on it”

“Really? The constellation Orion or the God Orion?” asked Juex.

“Constellation”

“You manage to open it?”

“No, it's right outside if you want to try”

The Four men went out of the tent and found the large metal trunk just
outside. It only took ten minutes of Jimmying it with a crow bar and the lid
popped open. Inside it was bear apart from a Glass square. Inside was a
Scorpion.

“What the hell?” asked Magoo

Juex chuckled.

“Going straight on my desk”

“Meh” replied Shadowalker.

“Time to get back to work” He said.

All split up, with Magoo handling the engineering, Shadowalker the
sensors, Tucker as a Jack of all trades and Larna working putting the ICC
tech into play.

Over the next few days, Magoo's team managed to weld the engine to the
remains of the Tachyon drive while the crew housing was completed and
waiting to be put on. Shadowalker had managed to salvage the Navigation
computer and its data-banks, plus most if not all of the Avionics had been
installed into the crew compartment all he had left was to wire the
compartment up, install the controls to the engine which he has delegated
to Tucker to complete.

The Controls were basicly a fly-by-wire system whereas a electrical signal
from the controls tell a computer to move the controls in any which way.
It's a system that was first employed on 20th century Aircraft and since
has been used on auto-mobiles and boats.

Next on the agenda was life support which required CO2 scrubbers, waste
recycling units and few more complicated things including artificial gravity
and the like. It was difficult and complicated engineering what developed
over a period of hundreds of years and billions in Dollars, Roubles, Yen and
almost every currency since right to the present credit currency now in use
has to be made with the backyard engineering and tools not built to build
these sort of things.

Juex stood watching his men at work in the back of there work tent. Many
things rolled through his head.

Crew Safety.

War effort

What's for Lunch?

Indecision.

What to do, how to do it..........Why him?

Chief Marshal Nemesis stood staring into space from the bridge of his flag
ship U.W.S Tau Ceti. A Elite Assault Dreadnought. In front of his ship, in a
horse shoe shaped ring around the gate that leads into CD+36*15693. He
had scraped together every single Renegade Space Marine in all the
known Metiverse, every serving ship all it remaining crew, what remained
of former service men and woman and there ships.

The R.S.M fleet was laid out simply and effectively. At 350GU encompassed
Twenty-One Elite Assault dreadnoughts. Spaced 55 GU apart. In-between
were what remained of the escorts, fourteen cruisers, six which were
Torpedo cruisers, referred to by friend and foe, as “A smaller can of whoop-
ass”. Four cruisers, space above and 200GU behind the Main EAD and Mini
EAD's were battle cruisers, which carried proton cannons and only a small
battery of torpedoes. With them were two of the five remaining UGTO ST-
35 Interdictor ships. These jam all types of FTL drives, and are a huge pain
in the ass for foe, but a massive help for friend.

The two ships were lead by 1st Admiral John Francis. A disgraced fleet
officer, who continued to question UGTO leadership and was quickly
dropped from the UGTO Navy shortly before the 3rd Stellar War. However
his Thesis, “Entrapment of the Enemy” was seen as brilliant by Naval
commanders, and he was soon restated and lectured at the Gagarin Naval
Academy, but his old antics persisted and he now is the oldest Admiral in
the Navy. Not like this bothered him anyway, he was in his prime abroad
the ST-35 classes which he was given at little notice.

The Final Two cruisers were the rarest ship in all of the Trade Navy, ST-39
Missile Cruiser's. All had been either scarped, or destroyed. These were
the last two in service. They Provided Long range missile support, The
UGTO even having retired the bulk of it's Missile ships still had invested
large amounts of Credits into missile development, creating the most
power-full missiles they had even seen. They were protected by a dozen
Destroyers, six Gunboat, three Picket and three Assault.

With them, was the fall-back ships, a contingent of ICC Combat
Destroyers, and three Heavy Cruisers with four Battle Dreadnoughts to
create a Blanket of cover fire and a distraction for the retreating UGTO
ships when they would fall-back to Exathra, where both land based and
space based support and repair ships would be waiting to quickly repair
any battle damage before the fall-back ships felled back to an off-sation
depot.

The ICC, had placed it's remaining ships in the defence of Exathra, their
home world. They orbited close, so that there Planet-based weapons,
much more powerful than on any ship, could pound the M.I. Here Chief
Marshal Defiance, on his Battle Station, I.S.S DEFIANCE. He had only one
hundred ships, thirty Dreadnoughts, five stations, and the rest a mix of
smaller class ships. They were spaced so that all the ships guns acted as a
literal “Wall” of fire. With Missile ships behind them, letting loose all they
had.

Here, once the UGTO fleet had fallen back, and repaired and the M.I
approached they would have UGTO's Interdictor ships trap them at 1,300
GU, prefect gun range. Then, with holes in M.I armour, UGTO torpedo ships
with get in close and jabb those holes, while ICC continued to fire. Friendly
Fire wasn't an issue, as UGTO ships could handle light hits from ICC
weapons. If they failed at holding them there, than they fall-back and hope
the long range weapons can hold while they repaired.

It was destined to be the battle of the century, the biggest mankind had
ever been in, one of the few time mankind was united for one cause.

Defiance Looked out at his remaining fleet.

“Scanner check” He called.

“Nothing on Scanners Sir” replied his radar officer.

“Roger”

Defiance a looked up, and read the quote written on top of the viewing
glass beam.

“I may die; but first you, my tyrant and tormentor, shall curse the
sun that gazes on your misery. Beware; for I am fearless, and
therefore powerful.”

Defiance wished that him, and the rest in the battle, could turely live up to
those words......
