Because it's an assault ship?

Don't alpha often on the EAD. Keep heavy CLs on a different hotkey than the regular lasers. Don't use heavy CLs for PD. Don't go full speed during combat. Use PFE instead of IE.

If you find the EAD has energy problems, you're not flying it right, or rather, not in the manner in which it was intended.

The EAD originally had the best energy management in the game, which made it capable of fielding many weapons. It was for this reason that I enjoyed flying the ship way back in the day.

Nowadays, the EAD is designed to be somewhat of a double-edged sword. On one hand you have the highest damage output of any human vessel in the game. On the other, you have extremely high energy cost for firing those weapons.

Your best bet is to learn when is best to fire the weapons it has equiped (tip: don't fire them all at once). Firing torps and core weapons up close is a waste of energy, and you'll only be damaging yourself with the splash damage. Likewise, it's useless to fire your beams at maximum range, when they do maybe 50% of their intended damage

Learn how to fly it, and it can be a deadly weapon. That said, it might not be the ship for you.

ICC Assault Dread (same energy or worse not sure)

torps, rails, and IC at range +100

Figting at <100gu

3 salvos of torps, rails and IC for every 1 salvo of beams.

torps rails and IC mapped to 3

Beams mapped to 2

engagment at <100gu looks like this

5-8 gu/sec

3
3
3
2
3
3
3
2

so forth.

when energy <90 i use only torps, rails and IC

of course we dont have the insane splash damage of the QST to worry about. You can bet any decent ICC pilot does know about your splash damage though, so we rush up on you and make you FF yourself

You're not doing it right, but then, you really can't.

The biggest issue with assault ships are their beams. They have alot of them, but they drain ALOT of energy to use, and youll only get a moderate damage output out of them.

Focus on fireing only torps and core weapons and you'll find your energy lsting forever with good defense on top of it. Beam weapons are more of a trick. Don't use them unless you're trying to get that last bit of extra damage, otherwise its not worth the energy to use them.

try a siphon instead, and you'll never cry about ugto-energy management any more

Or wors than siphon, a mandi. Once you fly that, you don't complain about energy problems on other ships as much

I had PFEs on it when i FIRST got my EAD, energy problems were worse than IEs. so use QSTs at range, then beams up-close?

How does that work? PFE's have a higher energy output then IE's o.O

PFEs had the problem, that their energy regen was crippled when you move to fast.... at least i heard something like that

Try flying the EAD into combat at 2-5fps... Then you'll have energy probelms even when you're only firing torps while travelling at 5gu lol

Energy regain seems to be related to frame rate, meaning energy regains alot slower and the FTL drive recharges alot slower aswell at a lower frame rate...
