I would like some clarity about the exact purpose of defense power enhancements. I have a 40% increase in defense power on my Support Station. After the recent change in the enhancements (changing the Def Power to increase rates of "recharge") I see a noticable decrease in my SS's armor strength in battle, which is understandable as they no longer provide a defense increase.

But my question is: Does it not provide an increase in the rates of repair at depots, platforms or using self repair? Because I do not see a difference. I tested it. I changed my armor and then self-repaired from 0 to 100% using first ablative and then standard. I first used a station without any enhancements and then my station with enhancements. There is no noticable difference in the time it takes (just over 3 minutes).

I really thought it would lower repair times. If they do not, what are their purpose then? Only to increase standard/reflective armor regeneration rate? If so, what about using it on ablative armor that does not self regenerate?

P.S. Please, do not stray off-topic.

I think it means passive repair times, as in you standing in the middle of space waiting with no drones.

SpaceAdmiral got it. Also, since abalative don't have inert regen, it isn't really affected.

so it augments ahr time in a small way I assume?

And the trade off for the power of ablat is the fact it doesnt autorep I thought....if so I hope it stays that way.

its the kind of thing you might use as icc.

simply because icc shields can not be repairs so they have to recharge before they can be used again.

Wrong. Why would ICC want this for shields? We have def mode, which can recharge shields pretty fast if u know how to use it right.

May help rep that crappy composite armor. I call it Christmas armor. U know, its slow as Christmas. Armor de Navidad.

Thinking this is actually best for people who die a lot. At least 20 times, you'd be able to rep faster, come back faster, and let me kill you again.

I only have so much time nowdays. This would be most helpful to me.

This topic adds DEP into "submit ticket list" if you bought one.

Composite Armour is exactly the same as Standard Armour - just has a different name.

Because of the high burst damage style of combat that is used most of the time, it's far more benefical to increase your HP instead of it's regeneration. Dreadnoughts and stations benefit the most from def upgrades because of their high base HP for hull and defence gadgets. I dare to say it may be a decisive factor between life and death even for smaller ships when they are hit by an alpha.

Defence Power would be great in a long run when you are not hit for lots of damage in a short period of time as long as the base regeneration value for your defence gadgets is high enough.
