To be frankly, when has RSM been not #1 since 1.5? Almost planets in Sagi has the title RSM in front of its name.

But, just to remind you that, Palestar can always be #1 in the ranking any time.

Looking at the fleet rankings, I never knew about the "Green Cheese Cartel" lol .

From a statistical point of view, suggesting that being number one on the DS ranking tables means that one has the best fleet is flawed.

In order to get a better representation of the overall prestige level of a fleet, I would suggest sorting it by average prestige per member, instead of total prestige. This eliminates the player numbers factor and prevents a fleet with hundreds of members looking like it's the "best".

In which case RSM is number four.

That wouldnt work very well Gej as Steveyk and Flash could be the only players in the fleet and would then be at the top..

Yes.

To clarify: You are flying along in your ship. You come across an enemy ship, one that belongs to UBER NOOBFLEET, a fleet containing a hundred thousand players and has a combined prestige total of a million prestige. You do not go "Oh noes? an UBER NOOB! Their fleet has over a million prestige, so that pilot must be totally badass!"

No, you go "Well, on average, each member of UBER NOOBFLEET has ten prestige. Therefore odds are I can take them on in my dreadnaught."

Conversely, if you come across a member of MAD LEET PWNZORS, which consists of a fleet of two people with a total of a million prestige, you would think "oh dear, on average I'm probably facing someone with half a million prestige, they might actually be dangerous."

So yes, if Steveyk and Flash were in a fleet together you could legitmately say that their fleet is the number one fleet. However, it would contain only two people, so the odds of coming across members of that fleet are relatively low.

lol.

And for two years, it was Wolf, with a mere 15 players

Didnt see a need for gratz then. Don't now.

What would we have been grated for? Recruiting smartly?

What would RSM be grated for? Recruiting indiscrimately and farming like they are from Iowa?

Its almost as bad as grating for the nav badge.
"Woo hoo! Way to jump around a lot!"

I don't think so, Tim.

(sorry, you asked for it, you, Nem, whoever, posting this kinda thread)

congrats for over taking PB, but as several of my fleet mates have stated we only recruit players who are loyal to the luth and not random faction hoppers who want a tag. besides with all honesty it was only a matter of time with inflated pres gains and yall do have more active players on. 5-10 compaired to ours 1-3.

The issue in prestige ranking is that since the combat changes, prestige gain is horribly inflated. I mean for a long time coombie was number 1 in prestige. But now suddenly we have players who played half his time with double the prestige.

Any measure of the "best fleet" is flawed. It all depends on what your opinion counts as the best fleet: ie most press, most players, most kills, most duel wins, etc.

That's why both Stevey and Flash are on the Gank-of-the-day menu whenever and wherever they appear.

Bring your own dictor sauce!

This is cause the devs are now making tiny steps in tweaking it back down.
They're worried about the QQ and threats of ragequit from all the new players should, God forbid, gaining pres ever gets hard again.
