It seems that there is is no reg's for ship line ups, so I made my own. We I log on we always are in a mad scramble, In books and histroy books there is always some order to Fleets,Squadrons,Task forces, patrols and lone ships.

This is the ICC line up, Im not Kluth or Ugto so someone of that faction can work off what I am writeing.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Fleets
Under Command of a Grand Admiral or above. Size 50 ships and up .

Command Fleet. Ships 26
Under command of a Grand Admiral or above.
1 Command station surrounded by 3 Command Dreads,2 Support Stations 5 AD's, 10 CD's, escorted by 5 Heavy Cruisers.

Main wall of Battle. Ships 45
Under command of a Fleet Admiral and above. Consists of 10 Dreads, Half CD, half AD. 1 Line Station, 1 Support Station, escorted by 20 Heavy Cruisers,2 Supply ships, 1 Escort Destroyer. 5 Supply Ships. 5 Combat Destroyers.

Supply line. Ships 16
Under Command of an Vice Admiral
5 Supply Ships, 10 Combat Destroyers. 1 Line Station.

Trapers. Ships 12
Under Command of a Fleet Admiral
5 Mine Layers. 1 Heavy Cruiser. 1 Supply Ship. 2 Missile Dreads, 1 Line Station. 2 Combat Dreads.

Missle Line. Ships 19 or 18
Under Command of an Admiral or Vice Admiral
5 Missile Dreads, 3 Supply Ships, (1 Command Dread(If under Admiral), 10 Heavy Cruisers as escorts for the Missile Dreads.

Scouts. Ships 6
Under Command of a 1st Rear Admiral
5 Scouts,all class's. 1 Heavy Cruiser.

Engineering. 8 ships
Under Command of a Captain
5 Engineers, 2 Transports, 1 Extractor.

Transport Line.
Under Command of a 1st Lieutenant
10 Heavy or Light Transports, 5 Destroyers.

This is what a fleet worth its salt should look like.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Squadron
Branch of main fleet. Or if that is the fleet here is the line up. for 50 ships or less.

Squadron under Command of a Admiral
Flag Ship
1 Command Dread, escorted by 3 Dreads, 5 Heavy Cruisers. I

Scout
Commanded by 2nd Rear Admiral
3 Scouts, 1 Destroyer

Supply
Commanded by 2nd Rear Admiral
5 Supply ships, 3 Destroyers as ecorts.

Missile Line
Under Command of Vice Admiral
10 Missile Dreads, 10 Heavy Cruisers, 5 Supply Ships, 3 Combat Destroyers

Transport Line.
Under Command of a Commander
1 Heavy Transport

No Engineering.
No Trappers.

Good for garrsion's, or raiding. This is choice for hit and run stuff to.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Task Force
Good for Missions, good for sneaking around the enemy. Also good for Escorts of VIP's, such as a Cheif Marshal. Also really good for leading the enemy off, so main fleet can regroup or attack

Under Command of a Admiral. Ships 10
1 Command Dread, 5 Combat Dreads, 2 Supply Ships, 2 Heavy Cruisers.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Patrol's
Good for in system policeing, such as takeing care of pirates, or scouting for enemys.

Under Command of 1st Rear Admiral. Ships 10
5 Combat Frigates, 1 Heavy Cruiser, 4 Scouts of all class's
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Loner's
Bad Idea, since K'luth love to track you down. Good for Information gathering, such as sneaking into enemy lands. Scout ship for this.

Pirate hunters should be in a Heavy Cruiser.

as for any thing else, pick a combat Dread or Something of that class.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I hope this helps you in your fan fic's, Fleet organiseing, or if you have a lot of people on hand in game, to put them in some order of combat.

Godspeed. -Admiral Wilson

if this ever gets done used or even considered with the players we have currently i will be very suprised.

considering a lot of people can't fly in a straight line let alone make a viable battle formation unless its the icc rail gun tatic

Well well well,

Here's the standard fleet complement in DS.

Fleet: 8 stations and 4 dreads.
Squadron: 6 stations and 3 dreads
Task Force: 6 stations

For the smaller numbers:

Patrol: 3 stations
Lone ship: Station.....

Fleet has 20 ships, and squadron has 30? Lol.

I'll suggest changing the squadron make-up to this -
2 Missile Dreads, 3 Missile cruisers, 3 Heavy Cruisers, 2 Supply ships, 5 Combat Destroyers.

Also, whats up with having more cruisers than destroyers?

Fits DS standards perfectly.

-----------------------------------

And to fit it more into actual ingame scale for ICC it would be:
Fleet: 2 stations, 4 dreads, 4 corvetes/frigates/destroyers/cruisers/supply/transport (in any combination)
Squadron: 1 station, 2 dreads, 2 corvetes/frigates/destroyers/cruisers/supply/transport (in any combination)
Task Force: 1 dread, 2 corvetes/frigates/destroyers/cruisers/supply/transport (in any combination)
Patrol: 2 corvetes/frigates/destroyers/cruisers (in any combination)
Lone ship: Heavy Cruiser

Everyone is a lone ship, because nobody wants to listen to anyone else.

Don't forget AI. They're very loyal until you see them rage quit when you engage.

No, not even the AI listen. You can tell them to go attack someone or guard someone but as soon as another AI or planet sends out a distress they're off and running after it. The only order AI seem to follow to the letter is "go to" orders, you can tell them to go to a planet and they'll usually sit there ignoring everything else.

It's amusing to tell them to go to a star.

Oh? I rarely fly alone and I know several other people who are more than willing to "wing up" and fly together.

I speak of ICC, which is what this topic was for. Most just want to get the biggest ship they can just because they can use it, regardless of how ridiculously ineffective it is, and regardless of how often they die horribly because of it.

I.E. people who constantly bring a MD to fight luth or use Escort Destroyers as an assault ship.
