I like a challenge too. UGTO had too many players (hasn't changed in over a year), and K'luth was (is still) way too easy. That left ICC.
They were my first choice anyway because their ships are the coolest looking, and they're the GOOD GUYS in the lore (UGTO are greedy businessmen, and K'luth just came in and took what wasn't theirs. Though I'm a little sympathetic to thier cause, being refugees and all.) .
Plus they have shields. You can't have spaceships without shields. Unless it's Babylon 5. That is the exception.

Ironically Darkspace was inspired by B5.
Also, before the efficient pd system every faction hopper went ICC to missile spam UGTO. The old pd system shot 1 beam at a time, meaning pickett ships were utterly useless. So there was a period of UGTO lacking numbers.

And also Starfleet Command. When I found out this game was like a persistant multiplayer SFC with new factions and deeper gameplay, I was hooked!
I definately still boot up SFC2 every once in a while and try to turn the map purple for the Hydrans.
Oddly enough, I play ICC, the ranged faction here, but they Hydrans were an up close and personal knife-fight faction....
Then again, if another faction had Helbores, I'd probably hop immediately .

I was "ICC", "UGTO", "Kluth"and finally "UGTO. "
In "ICC" i made my prestige and my rank in defense of "Tau Ceti".
If you need prestige must be "ICC", they are always being attacked by "Kluth" or "UGTO".
And if you do things well, you can lose planets, but you gain prestige and rank.
In Kluth, i win my "Bronze Privateer", in capture of platforms.
With the "cloacking device", is to easy.
However, I could never fly well a ship Kluth, because I refuse to hide to avoid fighting.
Finally I'm in "UGTO" because although it has many players, also has more planets to defend.
And although the developers also denied it many times, "MI" always punished more to "UGTO" even more than "ICC" while "Kluth" is protected because the developers have set their system outside the scope of "Mi".

They were suprised more than before. When i sensed there was no danger I decloaked. I notice i had 15 seconds timer to cloak again. Anyway after that day my mother left me . I was adopted by a senator. I hated to go to pray every sunday . Then i killed my adoptive parents. 9 years ago , i was lurking on internet to find some alien girl friend. Strangely i found darkspace instead of girlfriend. Since i didnt have a gf, I used to get all my stress cooled down on forums. Attacked devs without hassitation. I made them suffer! On purpose made silly topics to create 11 page of flame wars. Picked on goth day and night. Hacked his msn and spied every bit of information i could get to ruin his day. Then i was bored. I took a brake from the game. A while later , i felt something was missing. I just checked my desktop and i saw that silly old icon. I clicked on it , updated the data and here i am , once more.To ruin your day and make you rage quit darkspace.
Feel free to move this into fan fiction
you sir are a sick think

Psychologicly I like being the big bad good guy that everyone hates. (No, not a typo)
Plus It feels like the ICC were portrayed as "Rebels" and the Kluth "Alien Invaders"
Sometimes I do like fighting for the underdog which would've seen me play with the ICC, but I joined GTN and have never wavered since.

That is probably why noobs dont get close to engi/supp And depot planets is nearly the only way to repair UGTO
Id choose ICC, iv tried all faction and ICC is the one id stick with
UGTO is jsut plain space bar mashing in most cases, if your damage go to a depot planet get fix instantly and just rage back in. no skills require, Mayb e just numbers too easy
Kluth is special in a good way, requires lots of Teamwork and bit of skills (yes i said a bit of) But i fidn it way to easy to jsut lurk around, watchs fight, to jsut unclock fire cloak and sit again getting repaired with the AHR and watch the fight again. Kluth dont need no planets nor platform, and Its players dont play to win, They just play to kill peeps, even the noobiest one
(( OH yes they need to be in a dread so they can Insta pwn any noob supp/Engi))
ICC is the faction that does requires the most skills, The fact of its low player base dont help it either. a Player must learn to Rotate sheilds, watch energy, Compensate with Defence mode when possible (cuz depot dont fix sheilds) They Got long range tactic wich requires great teamwork(just lacks players) they dont have a Gtfo card like cloak or Faster JD recharge, they got pulse shields wich is slightly bit useless due to faceing 2 close range factions but still works at times
Go ICC GO

Give the faster JD perk to ICC. K'luth never use it (If they're running away, cloak makes tracking useless) , and UGTO's repair rate makes them less likely to run. But the ranged faction vs 2 close range factions? Yeah, ICC would benefit the most from a faster JD.
Call it a "Fusion Jump Drive" or somesuch. The lore goes on and on about how impressive fusion technology is.

i started playing in 1.4 era. joined as kluth, stayed kluth. i was usualy alone and getting blown up. it all seemed to me that kluth was underpowered and undermanned. i also liked the ships. and i usualy 'despise' human faction. its had a lot to do about my opinion about our beloved "civilized" egoistic human race. so i prefer anything thats not human.
on my second return i was kluth cuz for same reasons, but then i could finnaly felt the beauty of AHR and realized the majesti of diruptors and fell in love with the sound of psi and plasma cannons.
althou i explore other factions with alt account. ICC are interesting. i like the shields, havent mastered them completley, but i live and harras fleets on my own and still live. somehow i doubt i'll like any bigger ship than dessy thou..
ugto havent impressed my with nothing but, damn sexy dessy and scout. only reason i ever play ugto in scen is that i want to fly a dessy

This is true if we're outnumbered. Then we'll just farm the stragglers or the wounded. We'll pop in where you least expect us to be, maybe next to your SY to cap 5%ers, or even your depot planets to hit on your returning wounded.
Otherwise, we're just like any other faction. We'll cap your planets.

K'luth
When I first got into this game I realised it was K'luth from the start but I took the time to spend 6 weeks on each of the hooman factions to learn there dispicable ways. then finally after 3 months in the MV I was home
Why Kluth : it was all tactics, back then the main combat ships were the small destroyers and to a lesser degree in my opinion the cruisers. You really had to work together to get a kill.
Then 483 came out - the luth destroyers were nuked and we became a cookie cutter version of the hooman factions 'cept with no armour at a all. Siphons could be one shot killed. K'luth players abandoned the faction like rats off a ship but I enjoyed, no I loved the challenge. Then Smartin came along created a one two hit using a cruiser and dread and I was in love with the faction more than I have ever been. TB evolved...
I still call K'luth my home but the Luth ships in this version are far too easy, I feel embarrassed to fly them and the brotherhood amongst the K'luth pilots is long lost.

Started out as ICC, then converted to K'luth.
Joined ICC because of the color blue and because the ships were similar looking style to the human ships in Freespace. It was pretty fun to play as ICC when they were actually the sneaky, long range faction with their missile frigates.
Then eventually tempted by the cloak and close-range, high-damage out put of the K'luth once I was already dread ranked. Haven't looked back since.

I choose this faction for the following reasons
1 The ICC ships look cool
2 The story for the ICC fit me
3 The ICC wass the underdogs . I like a challenge
