while i am all for making planets better

there is really only one simple way of doing it.

BRINGING BACK 1.5 BASES you know the ones that got nerfed due to *coughs voilently* graphical lag issues and server lag (which could have been easily resolved by just removing the missles i mean think about it)

however seeing as thats not going to happen and everyone else clearly fail to understand any new plantary benefits are USELESS IF SAID PLANET IS SO EASY TO TAKE.

so lets just drop this improving the planets stuff because its all going to be pointless with defences that are paintball guns shooting skywards.

plain and simple.

Old bases are never coming back. Taking them away was a good idea.

Each base was the equivelent of a player pressing "E" and "Spacebar" every second. It all added up on the server when you added in every planet.

The problem is as you said, paintball guns shooting skywards. Planets are too weak, and serve only as a place to spam depots and sit near.

But as they devs have said, they are working on things. I suspect that if you donated a few thousand dollars to them cause they would be more inclined to push out a release. Until then, you're on their clock, not yours.

only because of the way it was coded..

each planet should have been pushing E. when it gets a contact within 1000gu, activate the bases on the planet so they can scan for enemies in their range.

Its the basis of Advanced collision detection. used in most modern games.

This system would only be slightly more server intinsive than the current system, but worlds less leachy than the old system. And you get "Skill" of bombing and planed defences that are scairy and dodgable.

Combine this and the capture timmer, And you have amazing dynamic space combat in orbit of planets with many tatical options.

but... if nothing else.. I believe the capture timmer should not start unless you have dealt with enemy troups on the planet.. Capturing a planet intact without firing one shot is lolz
