In an effort to increase our internal testing, documentation and discussion on existing and new changes (as well as systems in development), we have enlisted the help of both Enterprise (as some of you have already noticed), and Azreal.

These two players have been around during the high's and low's of DarkSpace, and so have a history of knowing what works and doesn't. It's been a long standard of the dev team to get opinions of players who we feel can provide valuable and in-depth feedback whenever we have an idea, or propose a change. A few of you have been included in this process, and whilst the general topics are great for wide-spread feedback, not everyone gets the general picture of what we're trying to do and why, which is why we have this extra 'in-depth' level of communication.

History has taught us that whenever a big version goes from beta to live, we generally miss a few points and we spend a weekend hot fixing problems. An issue we have with 1.670 however, is that we consider this to be a balancing patch, and whilst we can hot fix problems very easily, hot fixing balance issues is not something we want to do.

So, as mentioned above, we have enlisted Enterprise and Azreal to a sub-section of developers. They won't have access to code or development tools, but will be acting in a manner of feedback consultants. A lot of what we discuss goes on over staff channels and our private development forum, so being able to get the feedback right from the get-go helps us immensly.

On the note of development, as of last night, Jim Starluck finalised the ICC station layouts, which concludes the new layout process in beta. Everyone who can is encouraged to go in and test 'til their little fingers can test no-more! We'll likely be holding a testing event at some point over the next week or so, with possible rewards for players who turn up to help us, so keep your eyes peeled!
