Freelancer was pretty good in fact. The only thing I didn't like was the space lane thingies. Too bad Freespace didn't have a sandbox universe. Another MMO spacesim that was potentially fun was Jumpgate.




try X3 - Terran Conflict
- one giant universe with something around 150 sectors or so
- each sector with multiple stations
- trade: item-prices depend on amount in stock (something that really bugged me in freelancer)
- build: your own station ( or multiple, or station complexes)
- fight: each race have their own set of ships (from scouts (aprox 40.000credits) and transporters to destroyers and carriers (200.000.000+)

unfortunatly no multiplayer =/





I did have it. Played it for a few weeks, then gave up.
You jump from sector to sector. No true free form navigation.


If you ask me, the greatest single player space sandbox game is probably Elite:Frontiers and First Encounters. If you were to update the graphics to today's standards, that'll be the best. (Isn't that what Infinity Quest For Earth was supposed to be? )
