Keep all your ideas coming, ppl. We need more vertical structures on the ship.

I love this thread it gets me thinking...
for vertical structures I thought of several ideas.
first idea would be to pivot the "wings" down at an angle off the central piece of the ship. then you could make an arch like they have on the back of the current icc dreads along the bottom of the ship to connect the wings giving you this shape.
also thinking about some nebuchadnezzar style hexagonal shield plates.
some "launch tubes" coming out at a 45 degree forward angle or something like.
and something to do with rings. disks. and generators haven't decided what yet maybe inside of the a for mentioned arch

Hot damned, Scorch. You just gave me an idea. Nice.
I'll see about tilting the "wing" and lowering the pontoons. There's not much allowance to tilt it without the faces colliding, but I'll see what I can do abt it.
But I may yet relocate or redesign the central engine and integrate it with a lower arch, as per your suggestion and make it into an underslung design. Also, gonna redesign the exhaust nozzles for more details.
Great going. Anymore ideas anyone?

can this help you increase the vertical size of the model?
other than that the model is looking good.

I believe I don't see any gadget on any current ships model although they have. You can add some to make the ship structure looks more real.

In my opinion, I think it looks a bit too... chunky for an ICC ship.
The current models tend to have pointed noses and sharp edges, rather than being outright blocky; I'd suggest narrowing the entire ship down and making the nose sections more pointed rather than having flat fronts, and making the arch/wingy-bits connecting the sponsons to the ship narrower.

Hmmm. you could turn the flat points into recesses with all manner of Antennae coming out to give it a unique and slightly more pointed look. [ This Message was edited by: Scorched Soul[+R] on 2011-08-05 13:14 ]

For extra vertical structures.. how about a radar dish... though that might look a bit old fashioned... but come to think of it the Agincourt carriers bridge looks like a lighthouse... i need to stop rambling

i had an idea for the top and front. i was looking at the EAS Warlock when i had an idea the for it give it a sharp top, the C&C and a bit blocky at the bottom. that would be a bit nifty to see on this.

I've just made a slightly sleeker version of the dread above. Now clearing out the mesh errors before proceeding w screenies.
Thanks to Veron for his input. This point forward I'll be collabarating with him on the ship. Seems only right that an ICC player have major input on this model.

I like what you did with the main engine and the under carriage. It feels like its missing something vertical near the end. Most of the ICC ships have some kind of arch work near the back. Was thinking about some arches going parallel to the ship supporting an arch going across. I'm on my tablet so I can only fail scetch to illustrate the idea.
Was thinking arches something like the arches on the icc destroyer.

I'm already almost at the poly budget for dreads. Problem is that I have a lot of complex parts that once unimeshed, form multi sided polygons. This may render fine for movie scenes, but I'm guessing that Medusa won't be able to render anything outside tris or quads. (Need dev feedback, if they would be so kind as to assist with this qn)
So I have had to 'quadify' many of the faces ending up with tons on extra polys. If I'm gonna add those arches as u suggested, I'll have to sacrifice undecarriage details. I'll see how I can go about it.
You're right though. The top deck does need some structure work.
What do u say Veron?
