AI is a good tool. but almost everyone (with rank) can use them. thats why i suggest command class to be the only one who can control AI ships.
just get it done already, saves you lot of QQing around AI

How would you suggest thats works? Would the command dread have to be within a certain range of the AI? If not then the command dread can sit 3 systems away and not worry about dying and if the command dread did have to be within a certain range how would he 'command' the AI that are more then likly going to be out of range?

AI will not be removed, but we will most likely be reducing the 'weight' of AI ships when capturing a planet compared to players.
Faustus is busy working on upgrading the AI by some considerable margin too, so expect them to not be so stupid in the future.
Oh, and AI count on factions are based on player numbers on enemy factions. More enemy players. more AI you get.
