Key mapping for 'Instant Turn' |

WASD have the rudder behavior, Arrow keys turn you instantly, however, only the rudder turning can be mapped, there is no way to map instant turning.
This is a bit of a problem, one needs the fast reacting turns of the arrow keys while in combat to effectively dodge, but by using the arrow keys, you put your left hand away from many of the important shortcuts and number keys.
On the other hand, you can use your right hand, but this makes you unable to turn the view and quickly select targets (which is important when you're against kluth and need to target them quickly, and do blind firing)
All I ask for is a way to map a key to the Instant Turning, or a way to toggle the behavior of the WASD turning to go between Rudder and Instant.

Rudder control is far more advanced, you just need to learn how to use it more effectively.
No-one has time to impliment proper key mapping at this current time.

I've had no problems whatsoever using the arrow keys for maneuvering when playing UGTO or luth.

| Try it with ICC when you gotta manage those pain in the ass shields.

Far more advanced? The ship doesnt even start turning until A.) You let go of the turn button. B.)The arc reaches the maximum turn rate.
Honestly, under what circumstances is it truly helpful to turn at any rate besides max when this game uses auto-aiming turrets anyways? Maybe if we had fixed forward cannons on our ships, but we don't.

its helpful for evading salvo fire. slight turn left, major juke right, level off, small turn right, major juke left, ect.
there is a third mode of turning in ds, that makes you turn to the heading you select by holding down a or d. You have to turn this mode on, and i havent found much use for it. I thought this third mode of turning is called rudder mode... but im apparently wrong. Sorry jack. [ This Message was edited by: *XO*Defiance{CM7} on 2011-11-07 18:28 ]

You're thinking of YAW mode.

I'm sorry, I don't know the correct terms.
AFAIK there are two methods of turning. Instant, and adjustable.
I wasn't aware there was a way to set a heading.
Just saying, but in a small ship, I'd much prefer quick turn response, and the WASD keys do not provide that, but the Arrow keys do.

I play ICC so I'm very well aware of the need for a third hand if you want to use the arrow keys for maneuvering.

Random idea:
Turning on Defensive mode for that arc will make it drain power from other arcs over time until it reaches full as well as having the current effects (4x power drain, 2x regen rate)
Effects:
Easy to tell what side of an ICC ship is more protected
No longer requires 3 hands to fly ICC ships

fatties idea, + shields get boosted to armor level HP. (since rotating requires energy)
Then ICC gets a +... what is it now 22% to armor and shield HP since defense mode no longer works.

it would be good to hear why rudder control is far more advanced?

Only way would be to get a program to remap the WASD keys to the arrows. But thats more work and time than its worth
