Yeah.....give the beam fighters torps instead of those 600 GU range beams, sure they do crappy damage but it's 100% hit with no falloff. Fighters with beams would be good if they had to get into normal beam range to fire, but I was told by devs that all fighters use the same AI so you can't have different behaviors for each one.

i know this is off topic about fighters... perhaps not so easy to code and bla bla just a tought that fighters WOULD move into pd range, but will have 30% chance or something to be hit by pd. by the logic their movement in reality cannot be predicted, unlike missiles that have 100% pd hit, since they are pretty much predictable..

i remeber reading that the code says fighters are killed on beam hitting them which is why they cant have a HP value
