hard to be sure with the low quality video, i dont think there were actually any pulse lasers visible

uuumm... ICC have a pulse beam, very little damage but rapid recharge. Perfect for blasting fighters and smaller missiles.

Pulse beams are ok but with the increase of splash dmg they do more damage than they help. an anti-missile missile would be great for icc let ugto and luth get pulse beams

hmm counter-missiles.. like in Honor Harrington? insanely fast but do little damage to a ship...

i think pulse defence systems are ICCs speciality, since theyre long range oriented faction. having the upperhand at long range fight fits them. for K'luth they have much more useful cloak device and longest ranged beams(i think pulse beams have the shortest range). for the UGTO just get the suitable armor... and use your firepower to take out ranged ships first.
and i think having ships a kind of CRiWs which gives a set amount of PD% even while not using their lasers in PD mode would be an interesting feature... but for that i thnik missle number on ships needs to be increased too...

and if i expect enemies with anti-missile missiles (amm) ? should i bring anti-missile missiles against anti-missile missiles (ammaamm) ?
but seriously: id like to have a single (on bigger ships 2) 360 degree longer range point-defence with a medium recharge and missiles with a bigger aoe-radius.
that pd should be able to take out a few missiles, but if a ship with many missiles / multiple ships fire at the same target, the pd shouldnt be able to handle the amount of missiles
right now, a volley of 8 missiles can be shot down way too easy (imho)

its true that especially ICC missle dread lost its effectiveness of outnumbering the PD with its many missle launchers.maybe to increase the effect some of the misse batteries at ships could get a MkII like the old ones which fires 2 misses... we know ICC misle ships supposed to be one of their trump cards especially agaisnt ugto and big luth ships but even some types of crusiers could PD all of its missles before getting hit.
most cases PD works really good agaisnt missle as thyre supposed to. problem is new fighters and inteceptors which are supposed to take them out. [ This Message was edited by: Roukanken on 2012-03-18 06:12 ]

The Honor Harrington books are excellent scifi novels as long as you don't mind politics, lol. David Weber is one of my most favorite authors. In my opinion he has never put out a bad book.
Counter-missiles would be a cool idea for ICC. Maybe just make the normal missles replacable by them and have them auto lock-on and fire. On second thought I guess any auto fire should be toggleable...
