That'll be nice.
Along with the flavor text, you could simply add stuff like.
Eg:
Weapon X
Type: energy
range: 640 gu
speed: 60 gu/s
falloff: No

I think the description of the Particle cannon had something like this... but it was after the lore so the end of it went off the screen...
I'm one of those people who like knowing how the weapon works, I won't mind if the lores moved to the wiki...

Problem is that weapons have levels, so there would have to be a different description for each one, and a code to check the level

The basic information merely serves the purpose to help the player choose alternative. The description should contain hints to judge.
I list all information, and the ability of a fresh player to discover them in game.
- Min-Max range: neccessary but players can easily find this value in game by waiting the target to move until the gadget turns grey/green. The problem stays in the level and the location of the gadget on the ship. Better leave details in wiki.
- Ammo: already displayed in the gadget.
- Projectile count: can see by eyes.
- Speed: hard to tell. This factor is fixed and independant.
- Cooldown: hard to tell. This factor is variable and independant.
- Energy cost: hard to tell. This factor is variable and dependant.
- Damage: can't predict.
- Damage type: can't tell. This factor is fixed and independant.
- Falloff: can't tell. This factor is fixed and independant.
In general, I think a weapon description may contain value about speed, damage type, falloff and hints (if necessary) to compare with the alternative.

Pulse: fast fire and recharge rate, very low damage. |

These are important information that should be commented as a comparison.
Summary, basic description should look like:
EMP
- Damage Type: EMP Projectile
- Speed: 145gu/s
- Falloff: Yes
- Higher cooldown, weaker strength than Particle. (special ability - sorry I don't remember)
ELF Beam
- Damage Type: ELF Beam
- Speed: constant
- Falloff: No
- Does no damage. Suck energy from the target
Reactive shield
- Repair rate: 260HP/s
- Lower cooldown, lower health than active shield.
- Only good against energy beam.
- Minus signature when inactive
