Cloak, thin armor, and short ranged powerful weapons.
The only thing this amounts to is a faction made to assassinate small ships.
AKA, a faction that's optimized specifically to piss off noobs just trying to rank up.

There's only one solution to effectively deal with K'luth and really make them regret ever taking an offensive, and that's a ship you don't get until Fleet Admiral. (and it's one hell of a solution, ouch)

Frigates, Destroyers, Cruisers, nobody cares, your combat endurance and maneuverability is rendered useless by you only being attacked and able to attack when it suits the kluth.
Small ships win by whittling down their target and avoiding fire at a safe distance out of beam range, and you cant very well whittle down what you can't see, can you?

What's that? You have quick reflexes and just e-jumped away?
Great, because that kluth ship just casually sit back and cloaked to enjoy a nice refreshing drink while they wait for you to return.

btw
This isn't a QQ thread, because I'm writing this from a k'luth viewpoint.

a kluth viewpoint and a QQ thread are not mutually exclusive. or, having a kluth viewpoint does not mean it is not also a QQ thread

Once your mandi meets my BC we shall see how long you can chase me around. The problem is that in darkspace numbers win, and the team with the least number of ships is automatically in deep trouble. The luth have the ability to strike at will and hide, so it makes it easy for them to fight outnumbered as they always have the element of surprise. Its hard to balance cloak, and I know the devs are trying their best.

If they were to just get rid of the whole cloaking ordeal, what would be a suitable alternative? What kind of niche could an organic alien faction carry out?

Being able to 'adapt' by changing their loadout on the run?
JD's that recharge quicker?
Fitting in with the current ECM/ECCM system by having advanced ECMs instead of cloak?

Have fun trying to do that... your gonna have to come up with complete new layouts for luth now since they won't be able hit and run anymore. Your also gonna have to work on trying to get all the EW balanced as well. Its wayy more trouble than its worth.

They already have this.

Oh? I thought it was higher velocity not faster recharge... hmm..

Well, there's other ways to allow hit and run tactics, for example, giving the ships a significant velocity and acceleration perk, and making them smaller.

What do I have to cry about? I'm flying kluth.

I just feel sorry for those poor little dessies who keep getting ambushed and never have a chance to get off more than 1 or 2 alphas.

Find an ally dread to fly with. That's what I did back in the day.

Yeah, though I keep seeing siphons ambush the tiny ships and just jump out.

It just about instantly kills them, and if they are in destroyers, they never have a chance to gain any prestige to make up for what they're losing.

You know, this is not a QQ thread, if you say it in a partial manner. Somehow, I smell tragedy throughout the thread. You don't have to say it in such an emotional intonation. This thread needs proof, recording video or factual evolution for example, and perhaps diagrams with value to express the problem.

Shift-J. Latency is not my problem.

So we shd nerf the game, ships or faction for guys latency issues?

BTW I'm playing on the opposite side of the globe from where the server is. I hardly get any lag issues. I'm on a 100 Mbps cable connection and getting 250ms.

Bottomline, the game shouldn't be tweaked for the minority with crap hardware or connections.

I'm just watching the battles from the kluth side and see a lot of pissed off newbies.

Cloak is only fun for the person who has it, for everyone else it's felt as being OP, especially if they aren't capable of using a ship that can lay down some serious hurt in a short time span, such as an EAD.

Anyhow, the main problem I'm seeing is that small ships cant really get in on the action vs kluth, because they're only available as a target for such a short window.

You can make like 10 times as much prestige in the same time period shooting at a human dread because you can keep shooting it, and it cannot cloak.
Kluth... they uncloak, and you have no choice but to e-jump or die, you cant whittle them down like you would with any other dread.
