Kenny has a few single textured models, he might be able to send you one to play around with texture-wise.

I can send a model to Az actually. It's a remake of LoA's Executor dread. The design isn't mine in the first place, so I can't claim any rights to keep it to myself. But he is/was a Dev and the model probably belongs to DS.
So if you're OK with me sharing with Az, lemme know.
Without going off topic, I'll just post a few samples.
  
BTW, it would be good if DS can use single textured models. More ppl here can contribute.
