IMPORTANT INFORMATION
---------------------------------------------
We are currently in the process of moving to new server hardware - expect issues connecting to the server and accessing the website for a short period of time during this transition phase. Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do to speed this process along, as we await for DNS entries to update around the world.

Players receiving errors when trying to update upon GameCQ launch should rename the "vcredist_x86.exe.upd" file in the DarkSpace directory (C:\GameCQ by default) to "vcredist_x86.exe" and run GameCQ again.

Apologies for the inconvenience caused!

Can you publish a new installation package for 1.673 in Downloads section? It's much easier to download a new setup and install.

I got same problem when I was setting up new system.
VC 2005 redist didn't solve problem for some reason.
But after installed newer version of visual C++, windows sdk, ddk and other applications, problem solved for some reason.

Yeah I just downloaded the 1.673 client from two mirrors, I still get the exact same error that OP gets, also when I run vcredist_x86.exe it says "Error 1305:Error reading from file C:\Users\etc.etc.\Local\Temp\IXP000.TMP\vcredist.msi. Verify that the file exists and that you can access it."

I went there and tried to run from there and the MSI itself gives me the same error! :S
