Here's a little question for all you folks.
Let's talk about those newfangled Command/Interdictor cruisers. Do you think that the interdictor devices should be oversized and cause some kind of hump to appear on the ship's profile? Or be exposed to space? Or something to that effect to show that it is some kinda emitter.

I don't know, it seems to be a bit of a mixed bag; the targeting jammer seems to be more of an EW device, which would tend to have radomes or jammer pods, which in the modern era can look quite understated.
The interdictor and gravity well effects sound more like something that would require a massive power draw and hence a large, protruding structure much like the interdictors from Star Wars (which, incidentally, prevent jumps with gravity well generators).
Here, however, is a compromise:
the Soviet Ural command/intelligence ship, which has a ton of radomes dotted over the hull but also one massive one. You could potentially shape a large structure substantial enough to hold a powerful device but also have it look like it could possibly function as a radome too.

Good feedback.
I was actually working on a UGTO command cruiser. I have the forward half complete and was wondering whether I should add some visible interdictor/grav-well/aura device on it. And if so, how should it look like.
The Star Wars n Ural models look inspiring.

For an interdictor I would expect a large sphereical or ring device that dominated the ship.
For an aura, I'm guessing more of a command and control resource, so something with antennas and dishes and other fancy equipment all over it, for the humans at least. for the kluth itd be something psionic based, so however you imagine creating a ship that magnified psi energy. especially an organic ship. thats kind of tough.
maybe research some social animals/insects and see whats what there. i imagine insects would change physiology more dramatically between members for specific roles.

Awesome and models. The K'luth pincer dreadnought somehow reminds me of the romulan ship narada from star trek 2009.
I also wanted these models to be on darkspace but I did not want to replace 'em. Just wanted them to add 'em

Bingo. Ring device.
I've actually completed the model. Just cleaning up the mesh and it's good to go for texturing.
I wanted to see if you guys had the same thing in mind. Bear in mind that it's no longer a pure interdictor, but a gravity well device that disrupts your JD charging and slows down enemy ships.
The complete ship should be up in a week or less if I can tear myself away from BF3 or ME3. :-}

Second post.
Added: UGTO Command/Aura/Interdictor Cruiser.
Derived from the Executor Dread, this cruiser carries a huge gravity well generator in its hull, resulting in a somewhat humpback profile. However, it's swoopy fins and majestic lines still makes it somewhat of a graceful looking ship.

Reminds me of a Thranta-class corvette from star wars XD

I had to Google a Thranta. Seems that the resemblance is mainly due to and limited to the ring-thingy that makes up the grav well gen.
Phew.... LOL.
Anyway, I'm thinking of doing up an ICC ship of this class too.
If anyone has any ideas or has a concept in mind, draw it out (prefer isometrics, or plan view drawings) and put it up here. I might just use your idea. Right now, it's a clean slate.

Alrighty. I'll get around to FTP'ing it to the usual place somewhere tomorrow. BTW, you have the rest of the stuff in your folders too.

Our model importer doesn't accept textures in this format. It's a low priority item.
