After I installed Doran's patch, the ship gfx look like someone has taken a paintbrush and smudged everything just a little bit.
I've reinstalled thrice, my drivers are up to date, resolution is correct.
Odd things:
When I open DS, I get a UAC asking if I want to allow smartupdate2.exe. If I click 'Yes', everything closes and nothing happens, except I don't get the message next time. If I click 'No', I get a failed to check for updates message and I can log in.
Also, the game opens in windowed even if I uncheck the box(I usually do windowed).

Uninstall, delete game folder, install new installer.
If you're not comfortable with that, check in DarkSpace Setup if texture/graphics are set to low.

Done that 3 times.
Done pretty much everything concievable with DS setup(disabled everything, set it to highest, turned bloom off, etc.).

Delete the DarkSpace folder. That step is the most important. That will remove all settings, etc.
If that doesn't work after a reinstall, then it's something to do with your display settings.

Evidently there's something wrong w/ eledore's mirror. I didn't even have to download Doran's patch!

Theres nothing wrong with Eledore's mirror as ive had to reinstall DS six times the past two days and had no problems with his one...

just checked my mirror, verified 1 on 1 copy.
If the Jack-Online mirror is what you used to re-install i am going to laugh out loud..
As jack said above, Do check the bloom slider in DarkSpace-Setup.
And to remind you using dorans Cach.exe was a on-official quickfix. we found the true problem to the never ending loading and fixed that. no need to be using that anymore.
Blast, cant even have a mid-sleep toilet visit without some one speaking my name..

Just verified all of them - you likely didn't reinstall it properly, or ran an old installer.

Funny, my Norton keeps blocking DS everytime I load a new update. says it doesnt like the program due to the newness and low number of users.... We need more DS players out there!
