Well... see... The little ships do their harm by outlasting, outmaneuvering, and doing steady damage over time.

When you have cloaked ships, this almost always makes it better to use a large ship such as a dread for the reason that they can just about destroy a kluth in the time it takes for them to completely cloak and shake the enemy off.

When I fly K'luth, I give absolutely no damns whatsoever about smaller ships. EADs and ADs are really the only thing I fear.
Everything else, while it can defeat me 1 on 1, is easy to cloak and hide from.

I just think low ranks need something available that's like a cruiser sized dedicated torpedo boat with no other weapons besides 2 4 arc lasers.
Hell, just a frigate with nothing but forward torpedoes could do the trick.

Please do something so that K'Luth isn't the anti-newb faction?

Unless they do one of two things luth will allways be the "anti-newb" faction for 3 very simple reasons

1. luth players ALLWAYS target newb's in small ships
2. luth can cloak meaning that they can get so close they can pop the little ones
3.luth do insane ammounts of burst damage to even dreads never mind frigets ect the only possible way is to remove cloak (never gonna happen) nerf luth damage to the floor (also never gonna happen) or for luth to maybe go for the bigger (and more deadly targets) first (but again this is never gonna happen) sadly most people follow the rule of "if you cant beat'em join'em which just leads to other factions being fastly out numberd by high&low ranks.

K'Luth wouldn't need cloak if they had their armor increased to that of the humans.

They have the fastest engine, they have faster recharging jump drives, they have hull that repairs, they have powerful forward firepower, they're more maneuverable than ugto, they have lasers with no falloff, they have negative sig dessy and dread missiles, they have missiles that require no ammo, etc.

Yes, a lot of those benefits have a counterbalancing down side, but they can all be utilized to give you an advantage in combat.
The speed and maneuverability and faster JD still allows hit and run tactics, but you wont have all day to sit there and coordinate with your allies.

i do agree with most you have said here flutter.

Kluth have excellent factional traits even without cloak.

Cloak should, or rather could, be like the other factions special moves. Made to be situational. Limit the time they can be cloaked to one min or so. Buff their armor and ahr abit.

Yeah, if the cloak was changed to something with the same general effectiveness of the other faction specials, I think it could be a lot easier to balance.

I imagine if it did something like give X many seconds of invisibilty, the faction wouldn't revolve around cloaked tactics any more than ICC revolve around pulse shields, or UGTO revolves around damaging interior systems...

This would be something worth testing before anyone goes off saying what a terrible idea it is. I have no idea, you have no idea.

i do like the idea.

Kluth can be the manuverable faction.

Boosted turnrate and acceleration armor and top speed.

Also give them ecms out the wazoo

I love how non-Kluth players give suggestions about the Kluth.

But whatever... carry on.

i love how non human players comment on ideas to make fighting against kluth more fair.

Carry on.

Srysly though, this is a two sised argument and we need to hear both sides.

Besides it was more like a what if idea rather than a do this now one

You guys DO realize that I commonly play K'Luth, right?

I'm not making suggestions against it, in fact I'm pretty well neutral.

The thing that is bugging me is that the K'Luth have near immunity to noobs.
On the other hand, K'Luth are completely ravaged by players with sufficient rank and skill to operate an assault-type dreadnought.

You see? K'Luth are literally forced into being vultures and noob killers, because anything else will send them running.

Thin armor and cloak are the cause.

You can't balance one factor without affecting the other. Noobs should stick to flying with the more experienced players for protection.

All in all, it's a player issue. You cannot balance, or attempt to keep up with human behavior. You come up with a solution that you'd think works, and someone comes up with a way to circumvent it next week. So no point chasing your own tail.

The game is on its way to getting balanced without help from off-the-wall suggestions.

Well, it'll be interesting to see how those new Sabots perform, with a high damage dealt all at once, but a lower DPS, it should work well on smaller ships.
