The only reason some people think pres is out of whack is because they're still stuck in the 1.4-1.5 mentality where it was perfectly fine to throw away ships by jumping into an entire fleet by yourself because you'd make more pres than you lose in the 30 seconds or so before you got blown up.
Now you actually need to be careful of losing ships but they're still being thrown away like used tissue, instead of changing their playstyle to suit the newer prestige gain/loss mechanics they want the game to be changed to suit their playstyle.

whether or not pres gain/loss is where it should or shouldnt be, is a bit off topic for this thread.
