this isnt a matter of realismits a matter of functionality. Just as you have the ability to go forwards you would also have the ability to reverse. Givin you have the ability to turn. We assume there are thrusters doing this. So its not unlikely that any ship would beable to go in reverse.

As an example in sto you can reverse, in eve you can reverse, in silent hunter 1234&5 you can reverse. So you see its not realism as silent hunter is the only simulation game mentioned.(sure there are other examples these are just a few). Ultimatly its functionality the staff is either willing to give or not give to the game. As coding this should be fairly simple just make the thrust slider go beyond 0 to negatives. This negative value is fairly easy to impliment. Just change 0 to some negative number.

there still be vibration waves and when that returns back to your ship itll cause sounds like echoes. but it wont be clear like what we hear... as for revese engines, i thnik that has been discussed before...

actually if you were to go realistic. All ships scouts through stations would go the same speed regardless of size as there is no weight in space.

dooh they are, you just cant see them cuz you all fly dreads all the time and cant zoom in close enouh. even in scout you need a scanner to find a bird. then explain occasional black screen when you dock? huh? its birdsheet on the camera

you know i thought about trolling this thread but this thread started about going in reverse to talking about the realism of sound in space and in the game.

The sad part here none of them even know anything. Its like their repeating what they read in a second grade science book from 1930. Why are yal talking about sound anyway post is about going in reverse. Also about this wole realism thing some of you have takin it way to far about what is and isnt realistic in a FICTIONAL game.

Its not about realism its about what would be fun in the game. The ability to reverse in the game doesnt need to be based on realism and none of use here need to go into some advanced physics to explain it. Just say this is a feature you think the game should have and the staff will either day yes or no.

I think im the only one who actually pointed out putting reverse into the game should be fairly easy from a coding point of view.Ultimatly the only point of view that matters. If any of you understood how to make a game. It is dependant on two factors. The game makers interest in doing so and the level difficulty of coding it into the game. This is how games are made people.
