Kaus is probaly nice for new players cause there is always action.
I agree with Flash that i kind of miss Luyten since it was like the system which was usaly held by UGTO, showing their dominance back then.
Owning Luyten was like saying "we are winning for now."
Kaus is just a buffer which no one cares about and which needs to be bypassed, it has some strategical value though, since Melando and Aticus are usaly SY planets and give faster acces to the battlefield, but these planets are owned by a different faction every other day.
But i dont want to insult KennyNaboo who designed this map and put a lot effort in it.
I cant say if there would be more players without Kaus cause most "veterans" dont like the current MV, or if their would be less players cause newer ones would say "what the point? Nothing is going on anyway".

Wrong Kenny.
If there was a map designer, it would be Kenny_SRM.
This Kenny only designs ships and dies repeatedly in South Park.

I actually do mean Luyten. That was the best map ever where all 3 faction met for a good and decent fight. Kaus was the worst choice. Not going to say more about Mi.

Oh yeah, Pirates are incredibly OP now, they can effectively insta-win against any ship in the game because they can constantly teleport elite inf into enemy cargo holds.

I've nerfed that device in beta - the cooldown of the device is increased to two minutes (it was previously 40 seconds) and the infantry are now at .4 experience instead of .75 (They should be less effective now). I'm going to see if I can 'balance' it further by adding in a chance of it not working and making the health/training of the infantry more random.

The nastiest part was the ammo capacity, most ships only carry 4-6 inf max and more likely your going to be carrying less because you want to save your cargo space for potential enhancements or even resources... The device allows pirates to carry a lot more inf than they normally would be able to carry, and overwhelm the meager defenses of most warships.

I say take out MI and put pirates in the role they have in Sins Of A Solar Empire. where they raid a random planet every now and then. Also yea less AI for every faction in general. I get that they make things more interesting, but have a limit of like 10 ships per faction, but those 10 ships actually be in useful places. like following players, or defending planets from attack. not where they randomly cluster**** around jump gates

Is there any chance to see Luyten in the near future?

its in the 1.7 mv, roughly where r33 is now (which of course, will be elsewhere entirely)

a ditty to michelle
Before the nerf of depot spam,
one planet adheared to a simple plan.
For a short trip around Michelle,
and you were ready to unleash hell.
