We don't use .NET, so don't do that.. I was pretty sure I had the SXS issues resolved, I must be including the wrong version of vc_redist.exe or something in the installer. Adding a bug to mantis for windows 8 FYI... just wish I had a windows 8 machine to test on

FYI... The next version 1.702 should resolve this issue, I hope.. we will be pushing this version today. Please let me know if this fixes your issue.

the fix was to run as administrator and restart the pc after installing to get the darkspace icon to show up it now works for me with out problems.

by the way my one friend just installed darksapce and got the same problem im going to see if my fix works for it i will let you know i think he has windows 8 also

How about Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86)?
Is it compatible with DS?
I like the newest so I may install this when it's confirmed.
