I'm not sure if a playing field a million GUs wide would fit inside your house.
And if it did fit in, I'm fairly certain that there is no one who could handle the acceleration when using a jumpgate.
Or resist the heat of stars.
Or get critically damaged and then be repaired afterwards.
Or launch fighters hidden up their sleeves.
Or ferry 50k of resources after mining them from a planet.
Or build a platform even with 50k resources.
Or supply enough power to charge up a flux wave, shields or cloak.
And worst of all, look around at a moment's notice.

Reality is physically hard to achieve for people.

I think DarkSpace will come to tablets and smartphones before it comes to virtual reality gears. Small touchscreens will have little space for the range of control keys used in the game, but I doubt a virtual console (the implementation that is most efficient for the ship pilots) for DS would be different in functionality from the keyboard. And, if you're going to have a virtual keyboard anyway, why not buy a real keyboard at a lower price, based on tried and tested methods?

If I do anything with VR, it would be a fighter simulation where you fly one of the fighters launched in-game until you are destroyed, then you spawn into another active fighter.

I've already starting updating my rendering engine to support the Occulus Rift, just not enough progress to show just yet.

Flying one of those fighters in VR would be so freakin sweet.

That would be cool, player controlled fighter squadrons.
