I have a huge problem aswell. I'm using an ATI Radeon 7200 an the gamma is totally messed up. It's the only problem i have found so far. With my monitor on full, everything is still way to dark.
Please help,
Chris

ATI Radeon 256MB DDR 9600 Pro (Most Current Catalyst Drivers)
Athlon 2200 XP+ (1.8ghz)
WinXP Home
DX9 (Latest Release)
512 RAM
I resubscribed, was all excited to play the game, wasn't in the FA server for more than 5 minutes when the game froze my whole system in jump. Possibly as I was just getting a lense flair from the sun?

As an ammendum to my previous post, my error, it's a 128MB card not 256. I've tried playing DS 10-15 times since my last post and each time I can't stay in the game more than 5-10 minutes before it locks up and freezes. Game Statistics (Alt-P) Show no Latency or FPS problems. I'm running the game in 1024x767x16 with a refresh rate of 70hertz. The problem doesn't occur during any specific time, I could be sitting still doing nothing and the error could still occur.
Windows XP will tell me (after I restart the computer) that my Radeon 9600 DDR Card was unable to compelte a drawing operation. I just updated to the latest catalyist drivers (6-23-03) in an attempt to fix, however the lockup is still occuring.

Resolved: My Issue was resolved, I lowered AGP to 4x and Disabled Fast Write, thanks to MOD Darwain (sp?) for his prompt assistance! Apparently AGP 8x is too highspeed for DS!

I have a 128mb Radeon 9800 pro, it runs fine. The only thing that ever happens is the game just quits out of the blue 0.o

Actually, it has nothing to do with DS. There are known compatibility problems with ATIs 8x AGP implementation and several motherboards. If you check out some of the hardware enthusiast forums relating to this topic, you will get a good idea how widespread the problem is.
Supposedly, there are fixes in the pipe (if not released already) from both ATI and some of the motherboard manufacturers. Check out the websites and support forums for ATI and your motherboard manufacturer for more info.

just a hint i fixed the weird gfx with a pro9700:
i installed the catalyst-software and adjusted it to maximale performance (balanced is the default)
here are the details:
w2k and winxp
Asus p4s8x
9700 pro
driver is v. 6.14.10.6387 (9/12/03)
temporarly i had an issue with an obsolete soundriver for the onboardsoundchip which is fixed by updating the mobobios and sounddriver from the asusweb (it gave me the blue screen and dumped the memory)

Ati 9800 pro
Latest driver
All setting tried
Problem: many different problems, cones of grey going away from curser location to different objects (like from my curser to sirious 1, blocking out some of the system). Also clocks of random colors when I come out of jump sometimes. Basicly I just have a ton of problems with my colors and stuff and these problems have gone through 4 different games, doing the same things in each one (swg, battlefield and mods, c&c generals, and darkspace) I have literally tried ever single setting in the advanced area of the settings menu taht pops up when you right click o nteh destop and click properties. These problems seem to occur at random, some days I'll be trouble free the whole day, some days the problems will happen opnce or twice, adn some days they get so bad I can't play any more.

Bink, it sounds like faulty card or overheating ...
Try underclock (just for test purpose) ...
Catalyst 3.10?
antialiasing on / off?
