Asteroids would just be annoying and pointless. DS isn't going to step down from dreadnoughts and stations until the grouping system is implemented because players barely get rewarded for moving past the mentality of "Ooo! Shiny big gun! BOOM!" Planets that actually moved would be cool, but then the orbit bug would have to be fixed since the current orbit system is too basic and just anchors your ship at a set offset from the planet that it's orbiting. Geosynchronous orbit would be cool as a solution but if it's ever implemented it would be a long time from now. Either that or classify all of the moving planets as asteroids on the map code so that you can't orbit them. :/ [ This Message was edited by: Pyruvic on 2010-06-18 17:02 ]

Thanks for your hard work.
I think the map looks interesting and would give it a try.
I'd love to see Tau Ceti come back for a while, Argrea and the sort.
my two cents

Solars do indeed produce about 100 per star, and are designed so that they could in theory be used either on a planet closest to the star, or as a virtual replacement for all power in binary systems. I don't have any intention of changing these figures as they get used quite well to this effect.

So solars in MV differ significantly from solars in scenario? In scenario depending on the map you will get +150 to +180 or more per well-placed solar and depending on the planet, although there's very few maps where solars on the farthest planets from the star differ significantly from solars on the closest planets.
That's why in scenario you don't use solars if they give less than +150 when well-placed, because under that variance generators are better.

It seems to be per star, but it might be 300 energy max?
But no, there's no code difference between MV and scenario. I'd have to explore some functions in the code a bit more to nail down exactly what the rules are, though.
Also, no asteroids in the MV. And no orbit speeds. There are bugs associated with both, so we avoid them in maps now. Sorry.

Ok that's what it is, there's more than one star in the systems I can remember where solars are useful. Not too sure about Sirius? Solars are useful there but I can't remember how many stars there are; star counts are just not something I've ever paid attention to.
So that's what will need to change in the Sag "home" servers: making sure there's 2 stars. Either that or making sure there's 1 star; anything that keeps those three home systems on equal footing.

While I have absolutely no solid reasoning beyond "it's how I remember it best", I'd love to see Lalande in the center of Sagittarius, center of the MV, again.
That's all.

I think "QQ" as a name for a Terran would best fit the ICC.

Why not a reserve System for any faction? The systems should haw only one way to it from R33, BD and Epsi. This will make pushing out a faction longer.

I kind of like this version of the MV - exactly the way it is in the picture!

I build websites Rez, PS & NP++ are almost always open =P Also how I got the screeny from the clipboard.
Plus, you can check it now - it's still like that as of 18:18 hours EST on 22-June-2010 [ This Message was edited by: Coeus on 2010-06-22 17:18 ]
